Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I felt the need to flaunt my stupidity somewhere. Prior to picking up my new Logitech G920 wheel and pedal set yesterday, I had read that the brake pedal was overly stiff, and that there was an easy fix for this - removing a small rubber stop inside the pedal spring. I found a Youtube video explaining the process, so the first thing I did when I unpacked my new pedals, was to rip them apart.

 

 

Simple enough. What could possibly go wrong?

While assembling the pedal housing again, after removing the rubber stop, two of the screws had a bit of resistance to them, but I didn't think much of it. When I plugged the pedals into the wheel however, the force feedback motor just started humming and vibrating violently. Thankfully I have enough insight to realize that it was probably something I had done to mess them up. Opened them up again and:

 

 

Yeah, not in one, but in two places. Impressive.

 

 

So in stead of spending time getting to grips with the wheel, and having a blast, I had a blast soldering these three immensely thin copper wires.

 

 

 

All good again, and working as intended. Just wanted to share in case someone here has a set of these, and maybe didn't know about the mod - now you know how it ISN'T done. The mod does wonders to the feel of the brake, so totally recommended - I actually cut the bumper stop in half - removing it entirely will make the pedal feel like the clutch, but it'll hit 100% braking before bottoming out.

Fanatec pedals FTW .... spent the 1st day assembling them and setting them up to my liking (still not 100% liking the way i ahve them up ) and didnt have time to enjoy them

Had quite the battle Wednesday night. Got a great start - went from 12th to 7th in the first few corners) and from about lap 5 to the end, was non-stop pressure from TMussa. Not my favorite track, but this kind of racing makes it all worth it.  

 

 

I got squeezed in turn one of heat 2, but still had a great battle with Geosnipes towards the end. And we get to do this all again tomorrow night.

I rarely drive Oulton Park (or Cadwell for that matter) but I feel like I should more often now. Its maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. So quick and flowing but tricky with elevation. Like a technical gokart track.

Amazing that they show how in depth, to a degree, the new game has gone. Wish some of the other studios were this open about stuff.

You've been spending so much time in the SR3 lately. You should have joined PRD for our latest season in this car. Some of the best racing I've had with the gang thus far. 

 

Took 3rd place in both races last night at Donington short.  Will post up the footage next week when I'm back at work. 

 

Seriously though, you can feel free to at least join us during practice any time.
