i was thinking cell phone mount with one of those telemetry apps but whatever.

It's probably a lot better if you have an actual cockpit and can spend the time setting up the FOV and camera so your steering wheel is the perfect spot for each car. Though I would hope the new pCars does something to try to optimize that automatically...

It is 4x the pixels after all! If Apex is anything to go by, 1080 will have light work of it either way

Probably because they already had the old Aventador assets available and Performante was released well into the final stages of the build. Who knows, it could return as DLC.

So ive gone back to brighton to do some exams but while here I came to check on our formula sae garage(had to check some tools my friends thought they left there) well while there I took the liberty to update all the sims and try pcars2 again. Bit odd that whoever vouched into this beta isnt at the uni anymore.

not gonna talk about rain or weather or anything, i did my driving in the day with no bad weather.

And man am I surprised, im truely shocked

about how badly they fucked the ts020 up

It stood out,  now I got to try the ford gt gte, 488 gte and some gt3 cars and the radical and they were coming along very well, ffb does need tweaking for my tastes but this was the first time I could get a good few hours into the game, I played for around 4 hours.

Unfortunately I cant really talk to much(NDAs with TMG) about whats wrong with the car but with the serious amount of data I have there are just things which dont add up.

Ill give them the benefit of the doubt but the characteristics dont replicate the pros and issues of the real car and diving into the setups I can spot a few things which are outside the constraints of the real car.

Its not a deal breaker for me as the cars that im gonna use in the campaign seem more or less ok.

I still have a lot of work to do so ill try to limit how much i talk about this but my general feeling is that the gt3 and gte cars are feeling the best, the lower end prototypes like the radical seem a bit inconsistent with how far you can go and im not so sure the aero grip is acting right in high speed corners and the gt1 class needs work and karts.

All in all its an improvement, i did encounter some bugs, wipers inside the glass, rain droplets on the side window of the 488 gte and my rear bumper suddenly getting damaged at the start of a race at le mans and there was also a spike there. honestly hasnt changed whatever opinion I had of it, maybe I should have tried the weather and those kinds of things more as it stands I dont think its the godtier replace all sims thing people are trying to make it out to be, it looks wonderful and plays great however in its current state its inconsistency is a little bit worrying. It does seriously need work but clearing away that dirt I can see what they were going for. At its best with the 488gte it felt like I was playing assetto corsa and thats before you consider the features it has to add on past just the car element which I focused on today.

My biggest disappointment is the sounds however, too many shared sound assets is seriously offputting especally the turbos and unfortunately thats one of the things which is most likely not gonna change.

Dont take my words as the ultimate hand of god, I compare this to my bias, my bias is my experience with AC and my knowledge of cars which isnt perfect. I do like it and i might sound harsh in a few areas but you guys want a good idea of what its like and its not all good however the silver lining is thick as hell. I do look forward to see if they fix these issues because if they can make all the cars as nice as those modern GTs then ill be one hell of a happy man.

Thanks for sharing this. I think there's a lot of hype for this game where there maybe ought not be so much hype. What I'm realistically expecting is a slightly refined version of PCars with more or less the same feel, a bigger car list, improved weather system, a few more tracks, and that's really about it.

I'm not expecting a mind-blowing racing sim and you kind of confirmed that will be the case.

I do, however, believe it will be a good game and a step up from PCars. I just REALLY hope a lot of the known issues from PCars will be mostly fixed in PCars2.

One thing you didn't really mention that I wanted to ask was; how does the tire model feel? They keep saying they have revamped it and now the "limit" is more forgiving in most cars, unlike in PCars where once you go beyond a certain point, there was no coming back. This made it really difficult to drift in PCars, even while using cars that should be able to drift with ease. I know you probably didn't spend your time hanging it sideways, but I'm sure you must have pushed beyond the limits more than once and attempted to save it. How was that experience? How do the car feel at the limit and beyond?

As for pre-ordering, I generally advocate for people to NOT pre-order - especially if it's a "new" game with a heavily modified or new game engine and a new game series. However, if it's a continuation of a well-known and well-enjoyed game series and is built on the same well-established game engine, and you know with a high degree of certainty that you will play the game a lot and most likely will enjoy it, in that case I don't have a problem with pre-ordering.

The reasons I will most likely pre-order PCars 2 is for the above mentioned reasons, the pre-order content and because it is currently discounted. Money is a bit tight for me right now and even though it's not a huge discount, it is a discount none-the-less.

Haven't watched these yet, added them to my watch later list. Just curious, is the person who made these videos a backer of the game?

The guys over at PRD have noticed that those who happen to be backing the game tend to hype it more so than non-backers. Unsurprisingly.

He has a press build but is fairly open when it comes to affiliation with any one game - if anything, he's more a fan of Assetto Corsa but puts a lot of his time into VR gaming.
