wait till I update the thing. the guy just goes around saying the iphone is bad xD

also did you know bout this :

I didn't know, that's a nice addition :) as long as it lasts forever and not for a year ^^ and I can't blame him for picking on the iphone, it's so easy...

The specs and value are great, the design is kinda meh and not appealing to me, but that doesn't take away from the rest of the device.

But for real, more cores don't mean better performance. Have we learned nothing from...well, every other device on the market (ahem 810 ahem).

To be blunt I would've preferred seeing this kind of phone running Windows Phone 10, not Android. Also, DSLR flash? Lol okay. Sigh, all the marketing hyperbole that just isn't needed.

I get that shitting on Apple is par for the course (as is aping their presentation style), but if you have to prop up your product by putting down others - how shitty a product do you really have? This goes for all brands out there. Let your devices stand on their own, cut the shit talking.

*edit, I guess the ZenFone is equally as big <_< , provided the top image is to scale, and not just for showing screen size.

5.5", it IS as big as it looks. But, you get more screen in the same amount of space...

299 USD for the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage model.

That is fantastic! This might finally take the crown away from the OnePlus One as the best value smartphone (at least mid/high end smartphones).

Anandtech has a preview up. I wonder how the Intel's chip stacks up against the Exynos 7420.

Edit: Looking into it a bit more, it is pretty understandable that it has such a low price. There seem to be a lot of things you will have to go "yes but for the price..." at. Still seems great for the price, but it seems to be a mid-range phone.

I'm pretty interested in this phone, however since I saw the Oppo R7 Plus I might be holding off for that. I'll see how the specs and pricing of that one are before pulling the trigger on one of these guys.

So should i get this or a oneplus one

I'd get this personally. Cheaper, expandable storage, a better established company.

The specs and value are great, the design is kinda meh and not appealing to me, but that doesn't take away from the rest of the device.

I hope to see a future version with Windows too, but it's completely understandable why they didn't. It'd be a much much weaker performer sales wise if it was running Windows.

You just have to be careful that it supports the bands your country needs, and it isn't the Taiwan or Chinese version.

As I've said a few times before R.I.P Moto G2. The ZE551ML at $199 is a way better option in nearly every way for only $20 more. Some people will pay that just for the LTE capability. Although FHD, 2x ram, 2x storage, way better cameras, way better hardware, it's hard to pit a downfall of such specifications for the price.

Asus is nowhere near Iphone in terms of phone design.

i really hate the iphone 6 design its super slippery and hard to hold you have to get a case if you dont want to risk dropping it

What do you see as the major trade offs?

Well comparing it to the Galaxy S 6 might be unfair because of the big price difference, but it does show that the lower cost comes at a price. Some of this is speculation but I am pretty sure all of it will be true.

  • I don't expect the camera to be anywhere near as good as the Galaxy S 6. Not just in terms of still images (Thanks GSMArena!) but also in terms of video (no IOS for example).

  • The eMMC might be big but I don't expect it to top any performance charts. I expect it to be pretty average in terms of speed.

  • The screen is decent but nowhere near some high end phones. Color accuracy is quite a lot worse, lower brightness and blacks are night and day (LCD vs OLED).

  • It's plastic which I don't mind but a lot of people do.

  • The speakers are on the back. I don't really care that much about speaker position but on the back is just stupid. Put the phone down on a slightly soft surface and you won't hear when someone calls (has happened to me once...). They should at the very least be on the bottom, or preferably on the front.

  • The GPU is pretty weak (seems to be about the same as the Snapdragon 800 and 801).

The power button on the top of the phone would drive me crazy as well. Why the hell did they put the volume buttons on the back, but the power button on the top?!

But it has some benefits. Dual SIM if you are into that, and it has a microSD card slot. For the price it seems like a really, really good phone, but it falls short in quite a few important areas when compared to some flagships like the S6.

the fact that your comparing a 300$ phone vs one that retails the double of that makes its a killer of a device, yeah it might not be perfect but that doesn't make it any less impressive for its value, IMO i think the next great revolution on phones ain't going to be more power or newer tech but how much power and tech you can put in the best value package, the moto g started it and the OPO followed that theme, now we have this, these days mid range phones are being more interesting that flagships

I totally agree. All I am saying is that this is a mid-range device so expect it to be middle of the road in some areas. It seems great for the price (on paper at least), but it is priced at 300 dollars for a reason.

Personally I am more excited for the OnePlus Two but who knows when that will come out.

if they just added a metal removable back instead of plastic it would make all the difference. I dont mind plastic but metal feels so much better.

It really reminds my the the LG G2/3/4...

Especially those rear back buttons (which i think is actually patented by LG) and the case with the circle on front.

"Curved Arch Back" too...

But crap its cheap for what it is, and thats good

I got mine (france) 4GB/32GB model... frankly speaking... this phone is holy balls !

the screen is beautiful (I've set it to vivid colors, I come from a samsung galaxy S3 and loved the intensity of the colors) , the dual sim really cool from my usage, touch latency really low, UI really reactive, the system seems to take at least 1GB of ram though... classic windows high ram syndrome ...

I got it rooted so I can import apps from my previous phone without loosing saves, pretty straight forward.

anyway, I wish this phone could dual boot with windows 10 or 8.1, my dream, please someone make it real !!!

I'll wait for reviews.  Looking to update my S3. Was looking into the S5, but this might be a good upgrade.  Wonder if there is a t-mobile version or if it's unlocked and t-mobile allow it.
