Anyone else tired of seeing " best PC for $500 " ?

Luxpin_

My PC is a ~$500 rig. I wanted to build it to get my "foot in the door," if you will.

Someday, I'll build a bigger, badder, machine, but being a college student, that's just not possible right now.

Done. This has been the go-to mid-range price conscious build for a few months now and I don't see it changing anytime soon. Yes the specific parts like case/psu/which MFP for GPU, MoBO etc will change, but the underlying idea and stuff (locked i5, h81 mobo, R9 280, etc) will stay the same.

Not everyone wants to max out games, the my most  played games are tf2, borderlands and csgo. You don't need a lot of horse power to run these. Just look at the top played games on steam, none of them are massively demanding.

£650 is about $1000 according to google

Computer hardware is much cheaper in america, the exchange rate is near to 1:1 on cpus.

Nice job on the trolling, 5/8 m8

I like the really low budget builds because they promote creativity through artificial limitations. Every $1000+ build is boring because they are all the same.

£300 pcs can be upgraded with better parts when you can afford it. A £350 console can only be upgraded in one way -- spending another £350 in a few years' time.

All I see in the PC community now is whats the best PC for under $500 or $400 and its like ? just get a console lol anything under 900 just dont even bother.

I would rather have a $400 PC than a console any day of the week!

BTW, just spend the $$$ & build a $1000 PC!

Nah just tired of "OMG you want an FX 83XX for gaming, you should get an i5 XXXX(k)" when the OP never said it was for gaming.

There is the small problem of the fact that those CPU's are only good for very specific purposes.

Buy an older Intel Quad core, overclock it to 3.5GHz and you've got a far better gaming rig with a CPU that's even older.

I think what we need is pinned posts of Pcs at certain price points that are updated very frequently. At common price points that people can afford not like pcs that make AAA games at 4k Like boxs that can play mmos at 1080p 60fps.

A lot of people who may not know so much about building computers are most likely to be looking around that price range; sorry if it REALLY bugs you that much to see those topics.

You know how you could probably make them those topics go away? The answer isn't to tell people to go buy consoles because their money isn't valid in a PC build.

Make a sticky of a budget build labeled "$500 PC Build Template" and then people are bound to flock to that instead. Or just make a separate forum section on budget PC's as opposed to enthusiast grade PCs, away from your "leet 900+ PC builds only" section.

Not everyone has money, so if you want to banish them, just push us off to a separate section and you won't have to see those topics unless you venture into that section.

$700 pc is good target for me. Makes a good pc for gaming and occasional work. But since I already have a PC ill never have to spend $700 again in one go unless i desperately need a top of the line GPU or something...
