Android OEMs pre-installing Microsoft Apps (Samsung, Dell & 9 others)

Partnered with Microsoft, Android device makers will pre-install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype.

It is unsure if these apps will be uninstallable.

Samsung will only install this on their tablets. The less notable manufacturers are either companies that sell in their own country or manufacturers that sell brandable devices for others to sell.

  • Global OEM Samsung
  • Global OEM Dell
  • OEM TrekStor of Germany
  • OEM JP Sa Couto of Portugal
  • OEM Datamatic of Italy
  • OEM DEXP of Russia
  • OEM Hipstreet of Canada
  • OEM QMobile of Pakistan
  • OEM Tecno of Africa
  • OEM Casper of Turkey
  • ODM Pegatron

Well I think that's interesting, though I wish they would ask you which ones you want before you set your phone up, that way you don't have to uninstall them.

Try rooting a Casper phone with no community support.

Or one of samsung cheapest and rarest budget phones out of the fifty they released.

Rooting is easy when there's another person who knows how to do it for you (to write the programs).

Lol guys, why do you have to over react. Think of it this way. Would you rather have some crappy preinstalled notebook, witing, and other programs OR have the nice polished MS Office apps n others?

These apps are at least not bad apps and supply alternatives to Google's if people are looking for those. OneNote and the other office apps are pretty good on phone I think and they sync to other platforms.

Of course it would be best to be able to uninstall them if you don't want onedrive or Skype or something which seems to can do.

Supplying good services and apps preinstalled is not a bad thing.

I just signed up for onedrive and office mobile.  I am loving it.  My phone automatically syncs all my email, calendar events and office documents to my pc.  While google offers alternatives to this they don't seem to be quit as fluid.

While I personally don't think this is a big deal at all, since Microsoft Office Apps are actually damn good, I hope they will be uninstallable for those who just "cannot" use them.

Also, you should never have to root your phone to do normal non-power-user things.

Rooting might be easy for an enthusiast, but not for a normal person.

Samsung pre-installs so much crap on their phones, that a few more things would barely make a difference anyway. :P

That's changing, at least starting with the Galaxy S6, which will be much more minimalist, and touts the ability to uninstall anything.

Good thing you have a phone without full control.

How's that folder on your home screen with all the Apple apps doing?

;)

They maybe useful but not going to use them and if they are uninstallable then it's bloat ware for me.

The only people who think rooting is an answer for normal consumers are sadly those users who actually have no idea how normal users use their phones.

John Smith isn't rooting his damn phone to begin with, much less to start tweaking things.

I have 1 page of apps. Only carry apps I need. Leaves more space for music and pictures. And I take a lot of pictures.
