Obama plans to BAN 5.56 through executive order

Jaybird

of course, but it is a lot lower than america.

it is hard to see it from your perspective because in a culture where no one has any use for guns or want for guns, the regularity of school shootings makes everyone here against guns. but im sure if i was born/raised in america my perspective would be different :)

Everyone has a use for guns, countries that have banned guns have just convinced their civilians otherwise and I say civilians because without a means of ensuring your rights are recognized you aren't a citizen.

the physcological impact of plunging a knife into someone compared to pulling a trigger is dramatically different. there are studies on it.

Because people don't have psychological problems after shooting people.

right.

Ketchup is better than mustard.

GUI is better than Command Line Interface.

Dubs are better than subs

you can kill a lot more people with a gun than a kitchen knife

Like the guy who ran into a school and stabbed like 20-30 kids before being stopped?  Hm..and don't forget a knife is much more accessible, doesn't cost much for bullets for a knife ;)

  • 1 month later...

During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, "We the People of the U.S.A." produced the following:

 22 aircraft carriers,

 8 battleships,

 48 cruisers,

 349 destroyers,

 420 destroyer escorts,

 203 submarines,

34 million tons of merchant ships,

 100,000 fighter aircraft,

 98,000 bombers,

 24,000 transport aircraft,

 58,000 training aircraft,

 93,000 tanks,

 257,000 artillery pieces,

 105,000 mortars,

 3,000,000 machine guns, and

 2,500,000 military trucks.

We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic,

planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb, and ultimately conquered

 Japan and Germany.

It's worth noting, that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama Administration couldn't even build a web site that worked!

I know this topic is months old but:

Why not just limit the actual sales of firearms AND ammunition?  It seems silly to just ban ammunition instead of limiting it and what fires it to people with background checks.  But I've seen congress always has been unable to compromise on that part.

That's more of a gauge of how militaristic America is and less to do with the competence of Government, and I'm pretty sure that the government back then was pretty happy with working effectively given that it was their asses on the line.

The Obama Administration has been fairly trigger-happy as well, you know. We're still stuck blowing up the middle east... AGAIN.

In any case, this is insane. I love how the government is sitting around, eroding the freedoms upon which America is built, lauding themselves away. At this point, people should be rioting in the streets for half of what's been going on in the House. As they take away the rights of the people to bear and carry arms, the arms that they themselves bear and carry only grow.

The government has already shown that it is capable of killing men, women and children and then covering it up and stonewalling any investigation. I want to see what the snapping point for people is, because like it or not, this will turn into riots and a very bloody rebellion if it continues down this path.

Im still amazed that you guys can buy these kind of weapons lol.

"These weapons" fire the same way any other semi automatic does. It is purely an aesthetic difference, with the added bonus of customization. Also, many other firearms use the .223 cartridge. Thus, when this ammo is banned, it renders many guns useless. It would also shut down major divisions of companies. Now, I am not someone who picks a party and sticks to it, I'm more of an independent. So while I do not think everything Obama has done is wrong, I don't think this is right.

So let me get this straight, they want to make it illegal for me to use .223s and 5.56s?

Alright then. Most of my uncles are hardcore Idaho-born gunmen, and one of them smiths them. Two of them crimp and shell their own bullets. I'll just see if I can't get some ammo made for one of these timorous beasties.

Well...I'll have several nice decorations then...

you can just crimp your own rounds if push comes to shove. If the government is going to take away our guns, we may as well be armed for it, whether it's illegal or not.

I think this is really just an over-reaction from both parties.  Really, I wish it was more like Australia's gun laws which require background checks and restrictions on all firearms and ammunition purchased.

Because let's be real now:  The majority of people who own firearms do not know how to use them safely and effectively.  And every time we in America have tried to do more background checks or restrictions such as HEY MAYBE YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO USE A GUN, people throw a shitfit.

In what way is it? I'm free to believe in what I want, I'm free to love who I want, I'm free to be who I want to be. We may not have absolute freedom, but neither do you.

While I support any Americans 2nd amendment right, As a Canadian I see no reason why armour-piercing ammunition should be available.
