TL;DR the whole thread.

I remember doing research one day and found out that it is technically "better"" for your eyes if you use black text on a white background. That said though, I full-time go night theme.

better as in healthier?

Watch out for each other. Love everyone and forgive everyone, including yourself. Forgive your anger, forgive your guilt. Your shame. Your sadness. Embrace and open up your love, your joy, your truth, and most especially your heart.

It's simple, really. I don't like bright things. The day theme is too bright for me, so I prefer the night theme.

Why do so many people use the night theme?

I get that its dark so when you're browsing in the middle of the night your eyes won't hurt so much but ppl still continue to use it in daytime. Why?

Its the contrast that makes it much easier to see

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

I use the day theme because I have a really big penis, I don't need to make excuses for the things I want. :P

i read the article. seems its only ''better'' for fkn CRT monitors at low refresh rates, and its ''faster to read on'' rather than healthier.... x'D

not to mention i tested out day theme and within 5 seconds my eyes hurt like they do when i go to the google home page.

Easier on the eyes, and my monitor's lowest setting is still very bright. Also colors 'pop' better than with the day theme.

And it makes me feel like a super-awesome-hacker-badass.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

Because switching them is just too annoying and the night theme looks better. It's also easier on the eyes.

I also use a night theme add on for youtube.

Because the day theme hurt my eyes, even during the day. It's just too bright.

I'm already using f.lux permanently at 3400k and my monitor brightness is set at 50% as well, yet the day theme is just so bright that it's bad.

if the light is blinding you your monitors brightness is set too high ...

This is more than wrong.  Black background and environment then contrasted to mostly white with very small black text (Black on white within black) is blinding in any case without much light in the environment. Additionally, no chance in hell am I going to adjust my monitor settings individually for the night every night.

Day theme, when you're browsing at night it's a bad idea.

And since I like to go outside to look at the stars, it takes less for my eyes to adapt, the day theme is blinding xD.

The stars died for you to be here today.

A locked bathroom in the right place can make all the difference in the world.

it's just easier on the eyes, i feel it's less fatiguing to look at.

I wouldn't want to switch between the two because sticking

to the one you are used to is by far the easiest, and i choose

night time. Although i think it needs many improvements and

could be much nicer, hopefully they will do a night theme 2.0

eventually.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch
