I have considered to ask my optometrist for a prescription pair actually. Not entirely sure on the effectiveness which is the thing putting me off. Anecdotal evidence is all I've found for those.

I don't know about the prescription glasses, but standard gunnar glasses lenses seem to be quite effective (I haven't tried them out myself, but I am considering buying one since I have quite a bit of eyestrain daily)

Why do so many people use the night theme?

I get that its dark so when you're browsing in the middle of the night your eyes won't hurt so much but ppl still continue to use it in daytime. Why?

Well, before the forum update I didn't, as I hated it, but with this new update I hate the day theme more....So I have to use the night theme :/

I'm used to "Night Theme" meaning absolute white on absolute black and that is so damn painful for my eyes--luckily these forums don't suck, so night theme actually works as intended.

My room = dark.

When I'm awake = frequently during the night or with little to no light on in my room beyond monitors.

That kind of contrast is actually back for your eyes, it's easier to read, and doesn't make me cringe due to the blinding light.

The white text on a grey background is easier on the eyes in my opinion.

I can't wear my glasses to long so I'm not wearing them in front of computer so I'm at 20 cm from the screen so I have lower the luminosity to the max and I have the dark theme so it don't burn my eyes. Also I like the style. from time to time I use the white them and I quite like it

Mainly 'cause I find it easier on the eyes to read grey on grey text. Also, I personally prefer the way it looks.

Well there is no conceivable reason to buy Gunnars. Even if you don't need prescription lenses, optometrists CAN actually sell you frames with blank lenses and will gladly order the exact same shade for you. So you can have them look a LOT less....well, frankly awful. Probably less expensive too.

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I used to be a day theme user. Then I switched to night theme. Then, I went 50/50. Night theme at night, and day theme in the day.

Now, since the update to day theme, I am back to using solely day theme

... it's like a really weird forum theme circle. Probably go back to night theme soon..

TL;DR the whole thread.

I remember doing research one day and found out that it is technically "better"" for your eyes if you use black text on a white background. That said though, I full-time go night theme.

I use it day and night because light colors seriously hurts my eyes and head. If I look at white for too long, I feel like I will suffer permanent eye damage.  That's even with brightness turned down.

Because I sit in a room which might as well not even have a window and therefore a dark screen is significantly easier on my eyes.

it looks better over all.

scalign works better, instead of everything being centred it actually adjusts to your resolution.

alot of us keep our rooms dark even during the day.

alot of us still have sensitive vision.

brighter text is easier to read.

yee.

personally, the day theme feels very ''hey look at my forum i just got from webs.com :D ''

day theme feels very stock, cookie cutter, generic.

i think ive used enough words now. xD
