i white-list his site for adblock, ghostery, disconnect etc but youtube thats still a no. when adblock for a certain youtuber comes around ill have no problem with it, but until then sorry linus =/ the internet is a vile place

Look at linus's stats:

Assuming he gets money from all of those channels he gets a maximum of £300,000 a year.

Take of about £100,000 to account for ad blocker and thats still £200k a year.

Take off production costs and paying slick and diesel and that's £100k a year going straight to him.

Now lets half that so no-one can say I'm over exaggerating and that £50k.

Do you still think he can't eat with £50k a year going straight into his pocket.

Does Linus accept tips or donations? I like the idea of just encouraging adblock users to donate $5 or $10 a year. The content creator makes more and the people who are ad sensitive don't have to deal with ads.

Regardless of how much he makes he deserves all of it for the work he does.  I rely on ads for some of my apps so I can certainly relate to adblock essentially taking money out of my pocket.  Ads are a small sacrifice for the great content we get for free.

Also, that's solely YouTube. It doesn't account for all the Intel, Western Digital and Corsair advertising he does.

I don't mind ads on websites, it's ads in the video that really annoys me, the stupid ones that pop up quarter way in and the ones before the video.If he put ads on here I would disable it for this domain.

Linus invests a huge amount of money in his company equipment,and as the get bigger he will have to invest even more. I'm thinking that he doesn't earn an insane amount of money, actually it's his private thing and I'm happy for him if he does. Also I'm hoping that Slick,Diesel and BRoll will get bigger paychecks as they grow as a company. I'm sure that Linus now and Slick in a few years can easily get offers from big tech companies to work as PR and stuff like that, and Diesel now and BRoll in a few years can easily work in larger production companies, but the company will grow and hopefully they will stay together. That being said: I shut down my AdBlock for all the great channels I watch, so they can grow and be better.

Look, you're getting a service for free. Bandwidth costs money for YouTube. Production costs money for Linus. If you're getting something for free, I think you should not complain and just deal with it.

Advertisements are pretty annoying sometimes on youtube videos and on websites, but for a lot of people, their youtube channel or their website is their full time job. Using adblock is like pirating something that is already free.
