Turn off Ad Block so Linus can eat!

mapexlegend

Hey everyone, just thought I hopefully start a trend of sorts to turn off adblock on my browser so Linus can eat! I know we all hate ads on youtube but because Linus gives us so much I hope we can all give back a little by watching some crappy ads on youtube :)

Thanks

i don't think youtube can tell if the ad was blocked or not so does it even matter?

It would be handy if a plugin existed to disable adblock on certain pages :p

There is sort of a wall using an extension to disable another extension: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/18087-challange-ad-block-disable-ads-for-certain-channels/

You should definitely have a read if your interested as to why this can't be until ad block personally adds this feature :(

The only time I enable it is for on demand services. If I can put money in someones pocket for just letting an ad play then I will.

I kinda got used for this:click linus' video, disable adblock, refresh the page, watch linus' video, enable adblock some time later when a pop-up page annoys me.

The only reason I don't use the HOST file adblock  aswell is because of Linus.

I am not enabling ads for no one. I dont agree with intrusive adverts like the youtube ones.

I don't usually have AdBlock enabled so long as there aren't obnoxious and obtrusive ads and for the most part there aren't any on youtube. Very rarely have I needed to see an ad longer than fifteen seconds at most, which is quite reasonable.

Best thing is just to switch between browsers I have it disabled in Firefox, and enabled in Chrome.

Might not work for everybody, but looks like the easiest option to pick and choose.

Ever since I found social blade I found out how much youtubers earn roughly.

Look at linus's stats:

Assuming he gets money from all of those channels he gets a maximum of £300,000 a year.

Take of about £100,000 to account for ad blocker and thats still £200k a year.

Take off production costs and paying slick and diesel and that's £100k a year going straight to him.

Now lets half that so no-one can say I'm over exaggerating and that £50k.

Do you still think he can't eat with £50k a year going straight into his pocket.

Feel free to PM for any water-cooling questions. Check out my profile for more ways to contact me.

I just asked a friend who has a small youtube channel and apparently he earns towards the bottom of the scale.

Maybe this could be a work around to make everyon happy.

Linus could embed the videos here then we turn off ad blocker on LTT.com this way we could watch the videos here and the ads would roll but we could leave ad block on for youtube.
