A belt with a battery in it sounded like a good idea to someone

The people who launched the MiniDrive are combining a belt with a battery because having some lithium strapped around your waist is the new fad. The Xoo belt has a 1,300 mAh lithium ceramic polymer flexible battery in between the leather of the belt and the buckle which as a 800mAh battery in it. There is a flat micro USB cable and battery level indicator lights. The Xoo belt will cost $155.

I feel like a battery case is better. I have one for my phone and it cost less that a hundred and can fully charge it with some power left over.

I swear people need to start coming up with so many of these external batteries, they are not an excuse to make the battery life in phones better.

#1. its overpriced

#2. a flexible thin battery that went around the entire belt would of been a better implementation

#3. 800 mAh HA. this wont even charge my phone once... and I have an iPhone 5 which is well known for its small battery

#4. I dont want a cable hanging down from my belt buckle... why cant the cable come out the side and go into my pocket...

#5. This is way too geeky... its a neat idea but it just needs to be more seamless. and be better planned out.

This is so stupid. That connector can't be comfortable pressed against your side, not to mention what happens when you want to use it? Fold it over?

I'm sure that'll last a real long time.

And that price! Are you kidding me? I'll take a $20 portable battery that will have 50% more juice in it, thanks.

2100mah doesn't power many devices these days. Not sure what that guys been smoking.

You're perfectly happy with having a lithium battery in your pocket all day, you should probably think it through before slating new products for the sake of it.

#1 true

#2... Oh hell no! What happens when you get older and put on weight around the middle? As you strain to get it closed I can onlyimagine sheering the battery casing and spilling acid all over yourself for some nasty chemical burns.

great idea, but i dont think it will be sucsessful as you can get much larger batteries for much cheaper. Maybe when the tchnology is better it may be a viable option.

The idea seems... Alright; but that capacity is way too low to accomplish anything. Accounting the charging efficiency, that would almost charge my phone half way.

bitch i have a better idea, slap a QI pad in your pocket and put the battery below the pocket close to the knees, if you have an iphone then buy a case that allows wireless charging on it, sell it for 50$ with a 4000-5000 mha battery + the cost of the pant themselves or 60$ with a kit to put it on your own pants, that's a better idea

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

so...
if someone beats their kid with this belt...
will they get charged with battery?

pun-dog-pun-husky-00.jpg?w=650

I'll leave now

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

All these people talking about the dangers of having a battery so close to your crotch... I wonder how many of them keep their phone in their front pocket.

Anyways, I don't really feel like I need a battery bank, and if I did there are plenty of options that can fit in a pocket with many times the capacity at a fraction of the price. I wouldn't necessarily call this overpriced since there's probably some fairly significant engineering challenges to overcome and not all that much space to fit the battery anyway, but it basically ended up not being a useful battery bank compared to a lot of better options.

Phones operate in non-ionizing frequencies. The idea that they can cause cancer has absolutely no substantial proof.

I'm fairly certain people were talking about how Lithium Ion batteries have a tendency to explode on occasion, and either way I specifically used the term "Battery" and never the term "cancer".

However, now that I look back at the thread I notice that only two people were specifically talking about it exploding and we had already gotten a sarcastic response to them which I had missed, so I suppose my post was at best unnecessary.

This actually seems like a reasonable idea to me.  It would certainly make it easier to carry around a battery bank and have it accessible everywhere.
