NES build 1985-2015 30TH anniversary " NES 3.0"(completed final pics!)

ungreedy

got bored and replaced the TIM on my gpu . I really must say this is a pretty bad factory thermal paste job.

8c drop in valley benchmark with stock settings, going to do more testing tonight . happy so far,at least for voiding my warranty.

old thermal paste

new paste ,was to nervous to clean around the die ,the little diodes looks fragile .so I just cleaned and polished the die its self in that was it.

ouch that is some ugly paste they got there. Could have put a proper amount on like 4 cards what a waste.

Linus did a video on replacing the stock TIM on a GPU. Seems to be worth it for a such a simple thing. In most cases (and in the case of my 7950 and R9-290) they will not void your warranty if they find no evidence or damage to the stock cooler assembly. Should probably do this with my new 290, now that you've reminded me... ;)

I know that feeling. I'm not nearly as far north as you, but it went from -25 F with wind chills yesterday up to 40 F today with no wind.

Good thinking cleaning off the paste probably wont do anything but knowing it was there would drive me nuts.

Also it's 9c here and I just finished doing yard work in a t-shirt so... yeah.

I am the one who goes bump in the night... usually making a sandwich.
