adblock users are questionable

I disable my Ad Block for people who I think deserve it, ask nicely in one of their videos, and those that don't call me a dick for using it.

Jim Sterling's video on Ad Block made me want to disable it for Escapist Magazine and I happily chill for 20 as the ad runs.

Knowledge is power, guard it well.

How so how many of those views are on monetized platforms? My stats for my gaming channel show only about 25-30% of views on monetized platforms don't make money.

I disable it when someone deserves to be paid for what they're doing. Not if they're going to spam adverts in the stream to try and make money from their viewers.

 

I do disable my adblock when I'm watching smaller channels on YouTube but you've got to earn it first. Not just be a small channel lols :D - Good luck with YouTube.

On places that I think actually deserve the money from ads like here I turn adblock off, but its the websites that spam so many fucking ads in your face that get adblock turned on for them, if it wasnt for those websites I probably wouldn't need adblock, call me a dick all you want

I blame Google for the horrible ad implementation. I live in an Asian country, and when a video ad comes up, it shows a commercial from damn Asian female cosmetics, EVERY_SINGLE_TIME. Seriously, why did Google even think that showing ads ONLY from the country IP addres is good idea, and Google is so stupid not to know that I am a male and like computers & technology? 60% of my watched videos are tech videos and articles. I still don't enable AdBlock, because I know many YouTubers make a living out of videos, but really, Google, the biggest ad giant, can screw up with advertisements, especially in foreign country.

 

Now only if I had a job, then I might subscribe to a VPN and stop this IP-based language once and for all!

Shove dollar shave club in the middle of your videos, we don't want a combination of irrelevant ads, seizures and computer STDs.

 

Advertisers on the internet are generally clueless and fail to grasp the simple concept of small well placed banner ads > in your face annoying ones.

Can't find one invent the job, just look at every stinking country, they have "illegal" labor (not nasty jobs but jobs that are hard to do or menial) yet the regular folks can't find a job... as the saying goes those looking for work find it, those wanting work to find them are un-employed.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

There was an article in the New York times that said the average YouTube CPM (cost per 1000 views) in 2013 was $7.60. So that's 0.76 cents per view. So you could watch about 1300 thirty second adverts and contribute roughly $10. That would be about 11 hours of continuous adverts.

 

YMMV

 

Your math is very messed up. $7.60 per 1000 views would be $0.0076 per view.

I literally don't give a crap if I'm paying people's pay checks at all, not my problem in the slightest. I'm not going to sit through hours of ads every week, and I don't support shoving advertisement in people's faces at every possibility. I will carry on using it. Also, ads give me many more problems to worry about than putting my time and money into some stranger's pocket.

 

Also why is that guy moaning about an ad for AdBlock? The whole purpose is that if they can use one advertisement to advertise AdBlock, ads as a whole would die down due to more people using it. The greater good, etc.

 

What's worse is people like Linus that have pre-video ads, THEN has a fucking sponsor ad in the video itself. So not only do I have to use AdBlock, I then have to skip about 30 seconds into the video to actually get to the content I wanted to see in the first place. It's disgusting and I have no idea why people defend something as horrendous as obnoxious, forced advertisement.

They aren't paid prior to posting videos. :unsure:

 

Videos can be as professional as they want or are able to produce irrespective of their monetization strategy.

no but they are paid for previous video's so they can make professional vids in the future take linus for instance his videos got better quality over time becouse the videos he made before had enough revenue to make the future proffesional vids.

 

all of you people just think if everyone used adblock linus would be no were near as good quality now

That's the publisher's call; if they want to invest in themselves to improve production quality, that's their choice. Regardless, the viewers aren't directly involved in the contract for compensation.

If something is worth my money I will pay for it. An ad-forced free internet is something we all deserve. The web in the early 2000's was horrendous and although it has calmed down somewhat since then having gone through that period has made bitter towards forced advertising and eternally greatful for adblock. If money is your goal on youtube, have a donate button or other optional tie-ins of revenue.

u know the reason i use adblock is because of tracking

i do not like what ads do now

 

 

but since "disconnect" showed up i started using it

it only blocks ads that track and allows ads that dont

i thought the use and access to youtube and it's content was free so why should i be ostracized because i don't want ads on the content i choose to view. It fucking ridiculous how people on this fourm treat the people who use adblock as mini Hitler's, people who use adblock are not asshole or some seemingly pathetic insult you could conjure, we just want ad free content. if the youtube content creator expects to earn money from youtube without lossing money  then maybe there a bit delusional.
