1 day. My longest uptime was like 70-80 days on my htpc because I got in the habit of sleep mode

  • 2 months later...

Not PCs, but in my job doing network support, I routinely encounter routers and switches with uptimes of over five years.

Just last week I saw the longest I'd ever personally seen, a router that had been up for over eight years.

When you flirt with Death, you run the risk that Death has something more serious in mind.

I have managed to achieve a system uptime of 3 days, even though I shut down my laptop every night. How? Hybrid Shutdown.

My system is up 24/7 non stop. I use it for work and gaming, I work from home and am on call every other day and a lot on weekends, so it is only rebooted for updates or an upgrade. I run Windows 10 PRO AMD 9370 4.4ghz/32GB RAM/3 Monitors/2 Seagate 7200rpm 1tb HDD/32GB SSD cache

Pulled this from my Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Modem:

UAjeUiR.png

Not too shabby. The only reason it ever reboots is for an bootfile upgrade from the CMTS or an power outage on my side.

Overall, Motorola makes rock solid modems!

I run OS/2 Warp, and have infinite uptime.

This is a funny story because I can attest to it. My old workplace (which will not be named) ran OS/2 boxes and my bosses legitimately didn't know how the systems would handle a shutdown during a company-wide shutdown so we got paid overtime instead to keep the systems running to basically ensure nothing blew up. Swear on my soul true story.

Arris = Motorola. Arris bought out Motorola's networking division.

What modem to you have, maybe buy one that's more robust?

No can do. It's a docsis 3.0 voice modem, and time warner cable won't let you use your own voice modem.
