GTX 465 3-Way SLI

Ryan Leech

Still loving SLI <3

Is Tri-SLI pretty good? (Like without too many issues that people talk about)

I'm thinking 3x 760s. But I'll have to get another MB.

3-Way SLI is terrible. Only do it if you're crazy :P

I really like your setup and i really like giving semi-old hardware another chance. But here is my not so old semi-old hardware on the same settings on Valley Benchmark. I couldn't quite break 2000, but nontheless I'd say #GetWrecked. biggrin.png

Edit: single 580 ofc.

GTX 465 3-Way SLI Benchmarks

Per the request of @Lord Pantaloons @tmcclelland455 @vinyldash303 @ @JoshM @Rumikarimu @Jumper118 @gylmir @Prokart2000 @Jodomcfrodo @DeViLzzz @SAV1OUR

ARMA II 1600x900 Max settings  "Takistan Armory"

ARMA III 1600x900 Max Settings w/2000m View Distance "Infantry Scenario" (GPU usage never went above 40%)

tLfgBR1.png

Battlefield 3 1600x900 Ultra "Campaign-Uprising"

OWwrabz.png

Battlefield 4 1600x900 Ultra w/ no AA "Test Range" (VRAM was maxed throughout)

WCTpRGO.png

Borderlands 2 1600x900 Max Settings w/Max PhysX "First 20min of Campaign"

f7UZLpz.png

CS:GO 1600x900 Max Settings "Italy-Casual"

iHf3qoh.png

Euro Truck Simulator 2 1600x900 Max Settings "Haul from Milano-Gdansk which took 1hr irl" (I must say SCS did a great job with SLI profiles)

Overall my 465s perform very well even though they rarely ever reach 100% usage. I will say that 3-Way SLI is glitchy in a number of games and very well optimized in others. The heat output of these monsters noticeably increases the temperature of my room which makes gaming for long periods uncomfortable.

Holy shit, when you say you're gonna post results you don't skimp on them at all...dem sexy graphs.

No worries, we all know that people have lives outside of LTT and I knew you would post them eventually.

HAHA Thanks :D

I'm actually running off of the onboard ALC889 with no amp but my headphones are only 32 ohm

and the 465s are actually pretty fast in most games

Just....why ?

You ask why, people like @Ryan Leech and I ask "Why not?"

But if you absolutely have to have an answer how does "Reasons" sound?

  • 3 months later...

Wow I saw this in the OP's sig and had to take a look

Golf clap for originality.

Sorry I'm not reading through 6 pages of stuff but are the benches? Also, another golf clap for the 5GHz club

I am addicted to building gaming PCs but I don't have a great reason to stop...yet...

That thing looks and sounds impressive :P Nice build!  I do like how you are pushing that case to the max too :P Have you thought about a static pressure fan for thew side? might help cool the gpus seeing as the are right next to the fan.

Indeed the case is pushed to its limits. I have the 280mm rad installed which isn't even supposed to fit, 3x dual slot GPUs, a 1300W PSU which is so long that I can't even fit a fan on the floor of the case, I have all of the remaining fan slots filled with a combination Bitfenix and NZXT fans, I have all of the 5.25" bays filled, the 3.5" bays are either in use or blacked by the 465s, and all intake fan slots have filters. I recently installed a 140mm Bitfenix fan in the side fan slot that's rated for 120 CFM so the cards are running slightly cooler.

Not much of a fan(lel) of the fans sitting outside the case but I do love dem 465s

If only the NZXT Source 210 had enough clearance in the top to make it possible to mount the fans internally...nevertheless it cools the CPU just as well. I'm glad you like my cards ;)

If only they had 10 memory chips and 1280MB VRAM.

you'd have three GTX 470s then.

Would be a shame not liking the toasty goodness of these cards  ;)

Such a terrible crime would not be permitted on these forums ;)

If only I had those MSI Golden Editions, but in all honesty I like my 465s just the way they are but a little more vram would be nice

But they are open air cards. The heat would be even more unbearable.

I've got a whopping 11MB of VRAM free when playing Skyrim. Plenty of room to spare (that 11mb is system reserved by Windows, so I'm actually out of VRAM  )

I actually use 1022MB of my 1024MG while playing BF4 on medium settings :P
