Let's grow up. Discussion - Apple - General Fanboyism (Not answered by the way.)

This is just immature behaviour , he AT LEAST should have said something like ''All joking aside the MBA is a solid piece of hardware'', which it is. We as the whole enthusiast community should get off these BS things and really 'Grow Up'  We shouldn't find jokes like that funny anymore to truly become a grown up community, in other communities/industries (like the car indrustry) people actually treat every brand equal, because they understand that it isn't about the brand, it's about the product. This is just my opinion and i really hope some of you are with me.

@LinusTech , I would love to see a reply ,although i doubt you are going to burn your fingers on this heated discussion, which from your perspective is understandable.

I'm not trying to be insulting or demeaning or anything, so I apologize for any offense I may appear to be throwing out.

It took me about 3 seconds to find this:

http://www.ibtimes.com/apple-ios-app-store-gets-first-virus-learn-about-app-steals-your-contacts-and-spams-your-friends

And there was the report of the NSA silently installing spyware/malware on iPhones. Granted it's not a virus, but it proves that it's possible to infect the phone outside of the app store.

Granted, this is for jailbroken phones, which makes it moot, but it exists:

http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/reddit-users-uncover-new-malware-threat-ios-called-unflod-baby-panda/#!bbG1qZ

Lack of proof does not prove nonexistence. And honestly, given Apple's track record that they claim to do things perfectly, I wouldn't be surprised if they swept things under the rug and dealt with other viral infections behind the scenes.

So you have one example and two non examples. Android phones were compromised alongside iPhones. Now you're just assuming that Apple is hiding other infections? Then I'll assume that Android is data mining the shit out of all of its users for the purpose of selling ads.

Now this was a while ago and just off the top of my head, but there was a GIANT security hole in iphones when they started reading pdfs, people could put malicious code in them... Or any code really. Thats how some of the jailbreaks were installed, you just went to a site, downloaded a pdf on your phone and you were jailbroken. It wasn't a virus, but im sure it could have been exploited by viruses through that hole.

I think most hackers are going to target the easiest marks, unless they have a real vendetta against a particular device.

Yeah I remember that.

Android is by far an easier mark though, they don't regulate the store nearly as much and you can sideload.

You're brilliant.

+1 , it seems like all the people who are on the ''PC MASTER RACE'' are more ignorant than even console gamers...

I don't understand why people can't think that some of Apples products are good, and some are bad. If Apple didn't release the iPad and iPhone, we probably wouldn't (or at least not as soon as we did) get other tablets, and android, and kindles. Blackberry might still be the dominant phone on the market. Why didn't we hate blackberry users? And who is confident enough to say Blackberry is still the best and all other phones and environments are garbage?

Speak for yourself.  I hate on Blackberry and anyone who still chooses to use them even to this day.  I had one.  It sucked (though I will admit that the tactile touchscreen of their Storm 2 was awesome...and that was the only awesome thing about that phone).

Why the hell would you hate on somebody for using a blackberry, what if the person is in financial problems or just does not need the functionality that iOS, android offer. Besides for some business applications BB is still the best phone to date.

As long as one afford a thing , we really cannot judge whether they are right or wrong.

Even though you have a monster PC i don't think you fully utilize it anyway , people just basically play games and store porn collections.

I was joking.  Don't get me wrong, I genuinely dislike Blackberrys (Blackberries?) because they really don't have much purpose outside of business applications and can barely even be called smartphones based on today's standards.  Now, I haven't used one in years and have no idea how much they've diversified their software and app store, but last time I used it, it paled in comparison to every other smartphone at the time.  Still, from what I've last seen, they haven't changed much.  Though I do still scratch my head when I see someone my age (I'm 23) getting one as their everyday phone.  It seems like a really odd choice.

I miss old Blackberry, new Blackberry not so much.

The ludicrous battery life was always a big draw and while we joke about Nokais being tanks, the BBs were basically unkillable. I liked that. My 9000 has so much abuse but it keeps on ticking.

We've gone a little backward in phones with respect to those kinds of things.

I hate Apple as a company and completely disagree with most of there ideas, And mainly its the Apple fanboys I hate, who most likely do not understand OS X, how it works, and its UNIX base, or the hardware and only go of what Apple or there Lord Steve Jobs say.

But to be Grown up, the Hardware is OK, yes its hard to access, overpriced and not the highest quality. But for people who just want something to work out of the box its fine. OS X is an OK OS, it is a bit locked down, but for someone who want things to work out of the box, it works. but tbh I would never recommend anything Apple, PC for the win.

EDIT: I don't Hate Apple, I just dislike them, was overreacting a bit

You say that, but it only took one drunk girl chucking my phone against a metal door frame to break mine. :P  It still technically worked as far as I could tell, but the screen pretty much died and I could only sometimes get it to turn on by pressing the touchscreen in the right spots (yet it was basically unusable when I did, so I'd have to try and light the screen and memorize where I needed to click afterwards).

I can vouche for this. I try to not hate on them because they do actually make some really nice stuff even if they are using some dirty marketing tactics.

Such as suing companies over patents that really shouldn't the allowed to have existed.

How is apple's hardware overpriced, alluminum and glass are more expensive than plastic, keep that in mind.

Its great hardware and not overpriced. Can u get similar performance (usually applies to just GPU) for less? Yes (If you're not comparing a similar ultrabook). Can u get similar specs for less? No. Not even. (K except Yoga 2 Pro with lenovo's eCoupon). But if you're not a gamer or some hardcore 3D renderer, then its not overpriced because all the other specs are: "balls to the walls" - linus

It all comes back to the requirements,  if you need a solid product then (depending on other conditions) it is not over priced, if don't need a solid product (intended use is on a desk only) then the extra cost of aluminum and glass makes it over priced.

I guess you could argue that the product wasn't marketed toward the latter, though

you can, but marketing doesn't change a products suitability for a task.  And as end use is the only dynamic a product should not be considered pointless because it doesn't meet end use requirements.

Apple is a great company for the people at whom they direct their products. There really isn't much more to say and frankly I'm tired of people just spouting off information they read from some 12 year old who posted on some forum somewhere . GROW UP!

Yea but you can buy PC's that are cheaper with pretty much the same build quality and higher specs, eg the ASUS N550vj

Main PC: CPU: i7-4770k RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB HDD: 1TB WD Blue GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 770 2GB PSU: Corsair CX600M Case: Bitfenix Shinobi OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Yea I guess I was overreacting a bit, I just dislike them,

And you can get similar specs for the a lower price an example would be this, Though I do like the fact they are trying to push PCI-E SSD's, I will give them that.

Mac Pro has Xeons which are expensive and the all the engineering that it  takes to make it small, so I'd say its priced well (For professionals/devs)

In the thread I gave u, I mentioned Retina Macbook Pros which are the best priced Macs imo and are not overpriced

No *PCIe* ssd. Many have SSDs, but mSATA is dirt cheap compared to pcie

Not really, implement costs for OEM's are about the same if bought in large quantities. Nice thought tho. But of course PCie is better.
