Question about Pixel Screenshot Functionality

I take a lot of screenshots from my phones daily and I'm used to being able to set a number of different gestures for that function, but it seems with the Pixel devices I can only double tap the back to take a screenshot?
 

I seem to need to double tap very hard, but I'm also using a Spigen Tough Armor case; it's a bit bulky, so I'm going to assume that this impacts the double tap to SS functionality?

 

Edit: I guess I can hit the power button and volume down but I've never liked taking SS that way.
