This is a thread to post what you'd do tech wise if you suddenly ran into hundreds of millions worth of cash. 

I'll start. Here's what I'd do. 

 

1.I'd build an atom itx machine in a case labs TX10 case. 

 

2. I'd make and sell a custom  PC that has a built in firewall. Instead of blocking the content, the PC will simply catch on fire. 

 

3. I'd buy 5 razer mice so I could have a naga that still works at the end of the year.

 

4. It's time to 1up those making PC cases look like cars. I will make a car that looks like a PC case. 

 

5. I'd buy an xbone and ps4 and even though I'm a multi-millionaire still regret the investment. 

 

6. I'd buy a mac pro. I'd take the cover off, cover the hole in the bottom, and use it as a trash can, then toss the rest of the mac in it. Not a bad case, it's just a trash can, and should be used as such. 

 

7. I'd buy steam and make all games mac only. Yah know, just to start the flame war of the century. 

 

 

What tech related things would you do with insane amounts of cash?

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

You would need more than hundreds of millions to buy steam :) Lord Gabe is making quite a lot of money in these months.

I would donate or utilize the money for research in varied fields such as self sustenance in food and energy, alternative agriculture, better use of renewable resources and artificial intelligence.

Can't live off interest if you're taking money out all the time to buy necessities.

build a pc with like 10 titan Zs and play on it. and buy a google glass, raser blade pro. mackbook pro,104K monitors. Nothing else.

buy norad and use it for personal gaming, get a farm of amd cards and mine those bitcoins till they are pretty much worthless (sick of hearing about those), then probably go crazy building a pc

Only 2 would be able to sli, and Linux would only recognize 4, windows 3. Do it anyway just to piss people off.

Well lets say I win 100 Million Pounds....say 5% interest rate (so 105 Million in 1 year) Daily interest is £13,698.63. EVERY DAY

 

 

Seeing as my current job is £16,500... I basically earn my current yearly wage, every day

Probably triple 4k gaming setup , dual titanz ( or 4 titan blacks ) , haswell-e extreme edition ,asus $500 x99 mobo , 20 ssd's in raid , and a fuckin server room where to put this beast lol
