ITT: Some Twitter user tries to drum up controversy by making Intel look evil and AMD look like an underdog. Then he begs for money.

Meanwhile, the subject is too difficult for most people to understand so they just blindly believe the tweet and gets mad. Because who is on Twitter besides people who are looking for things to be mad at?

Twitter is for people with an attention span of 1 long sentence or 2 short ones.  TikTok is for people with an attention span of 30seconds.

Initially shocked if true, then skeptical, but then did the leg work and actually went through and found out what it was all about.

Think before you lump us all in to your 'all media is bad' narrative

I mean that obviously wasnt meant to be literal… but it is true, one has to be really careful what news to believe - and especially where they come from. And I still dont know who you are! xD but i figured from the last info / post that something seemed definitely odd about this whole "patent" thing…

Now this is just ridiculous. How was this even granted. And how come AMD didn't patent their shit!?

Because the post is fake news and misinformation.

Intel didn't patent AMD's architecture or anything like that.

I'd take quality over quantity. One well written Tweet can convey more useful information than a page long article from many so called news sites. The character limit forces you to consider what you write, even if it makes it less suitable where longer content is justified. Not saying everything is good, but the good and bad comes along with any open posting platform.

It would be cool if this forum stopped allowing random twitter users as news sources. Why is this thread still open/titled the way it is?

Public wikis are a disaster. The Google Scholar is much better. 😄

BTW, are you still doing chemistry-related research?

I still think "analyst" is a poor marketing term.

Something akin to "consultant" likely works better. Maybe "Principal"

Hierarchy at most top consultancies/investment banks
Analyst < Associate < Assistance VP/Engagement Manager < VP/EM < Director/Associate Director < Managing Director/Partner

It's a role for bright 22 year olds.

That's really only down to how you see it and also what career sector and also within that. Analysts come in all different forms and pay ranges with widely different responsibilities and areas. For example an experienced business analyst is not a 22 year old.

People obsess way to much about job titles, some of the BS they come up with omg. If you are an analyst doing an analysis type role then that is what you (royal you) are, get over it 😉

All I know is that a transfer from the analyst ladder to the data scientist ladder comes with a 15-30% pay bump...

The number of words does not change the quality though.  It's easy to dribble shit in a few words but the more reasoning and detail you put into a message the harder it gets to hide inconsistencies/misinformation.

Again I'm not saying Twitter is great or perfect. The point was that limited characters in itself are not a problem. Any retrospectively moderated user posting platform, which covers pretty much all social media and forums like here, will have >>99% content that is garbage/irrelevant but we can seek out the gems that exist. In that sense, I don't see Twitter as being any different from others in the space. If the argument is that the category as a whole is bad, that's another story...

While I'm here, this is Ian's video on the original topic.

limiting characters is not the cause of the problem but it is a contributing factor.    It is easier to see BS as the information increases.  It is also easier to understand the many facets of a complex issue if the many facets are more adequately covered.  Certain complex topics like CPU architecture, international politics, corporate management etc, are never easily shortened to a few sentences without losing integral information.    So the fact still remains, when you have limited information you must either take it as the person knows what they are talking about (not in this case) or seek out further information.  Given the rise of twitter and tiktok are both due to the bite size information chunks and not much else,  I would be hesitant to believe most of the users are willing to spend more time to verify what they have read.
