The animated version is standard viewing, even the English dub isn't bad.

Oh the humble ball. I honestly think this thing could have been the best mobile weapons platform in space had it been taken seriously. A weapons platform is only as good as its ability to deliver a payload. As such, a mobile suit seems like an overly complicated way to deliver that payload. It's a big juicy target.

A ball, on the other hand, is like being able to pilot the weapons without the mobile suit. Equip a ball with a beam gun on top, a beam sabre in one arm, a shield in the other, and boom, something that is smaller and lighter while just as powerful (ie, ability to deliver a payload) as a mobile suit. Obviously, this would require the ball to have a bigger powerplant and more powerful thrusters. But, compared to the complexity of a mobile suit, I imagine a suped up ball would be smaller, lighter, cheaper, and easier to produce and pilot compared to a mobile suit. It would pretty much be a flying beam rifle with a beam sabre attached.

Obviously, the whole point of Gundam is the giant robots (anti-war message and space magic notwithstanding), but I think that a weapon's platform like the ball would perform much better, despite not being as cool.

Meh, it wasn't that good. Watched it the first time as an adult. It certainly isn't the masterpiece some people claim it was (though I also didn't like Evangelion... That ended was probably the worst ending I've ever seen for an anime)

I mean you're not 100% wrong but BIG STOMPY ROBOTS NEED LEGS.

Also they had some 'mobile weapons but I think fans don't like them very much because we all came to see big stompy robots not beyond visual range laser and missile combat. That's why minovsky particles cause radar/sensor interference and you need to do visual range combat. Plot armor.

I started to watch d4dj.
I know it has a werid meme and a rhythm game tied to it(which looks like bang dream with sound vortex elements)

But honestly it has a feeling of k-on mixed with love live.
people complain about the 3d animation I think it’s well done.

Didn't know most of their work is connected somehow? a silent voice to your name to weathering with you? nice art, if the story is anything to go by.

To quite a few series being released, some that was years since first season.

Question: Is the anime "Gate" just another anti-war show or is it more pragmatic than that?

It looks interesting but I am so very tired of the over the top anti-war messaging that I see in a lot of shows.

(NOTE: I'm saying war is good but I don't need it hammered into my head and I'm not going to sacrifice the plot to avoid a obvious conflict.)

It's literally a war anime about war in another world and them rolling the natives after they invaded japan unprovoked. It's using modern tech to fight the equivalent of ancient Rome tech, with magic.

It's good. Here's hoping we get a new season. In the manga, we're just not reaching a point where they make peace, while still being at war with another faction

It’s not anti war, if I am not mistaken the author was part of Japanese military.

but also because of that people in Japan didn’t like it.

I really liked how not only was there war but it had moments were they made peace with the natives.

Spoiler

Kinda spoiler one of the natives just absolutely destroyed a argument with a government official.

(Side note I wrote this while listening to the OP it’s a bop)

if you like that one then I would recommend code geass.

So I started watching Spy x Family and I must say... Better than I expected. It's a good comedy thus far, could've done without episode 5 that felt like fillers, but other than that, I'm certainly looking forward to more episodes and might check the manga out now.

Other than that, also watching Gaikotsu Kishi-sama. That one is ok. I've read the manga for a bit, it wasn't that great and I dropped it around chapter 28. But the anime thus far is interesting to me.

Also watching the new season of Honzuki no Gekokujou, I'm eating that series up like no tomorrow. Currently up to date with the light novels as well, waiting impatiently for the next volume to come out next month. I don't know why but I love it.

Oh and if anyone else loves KEY, the studio behind AIR, Kanon, Clannad and more... Kaginado is short dumb fun, with all the characters from their visual novels, gotta love all the references they put in there.

All in all... it's been a while since I've watched this many anime in a single season.

And I think next season we're getting Overlord, right?

yeah, although some aspects are a bit overblown anime stuff. some of the action though and some of that art style that can be enjoyable to look at or look generic.

but man so many season 2 for animes that just suck, like some of the current streaming ones. Also with animes like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, it looks good and does some things well, it feels like the story was destroyed IMO, it could recover with future episodes but I'm confused in where they want to take it. Also that some of the world building was sort of destroyed as well. Something the slime anime tries to build, that can have their amount of boring episodes where it feels like there is no progress for 10's of episodes.

movies, jujutsu kaisen 0 movie, dragon ball z super?

My Hero Academia Season 6, movies, and maybe live action? some more of, "To Your Eternity Season" although some aspects seems a bit off with the show.

older 90's to early 20's series return. Initial D also doing a return, with an ad for cars too? (style is not the greatest but works sometimes + more eurobeats).

maybe more fun season 3's coming instead

and maybe bit more shaman king, live show singing.

I finished the first season, as for overblown yeah I can see that but I don't think IMO it is but I am an idiot and I watch things to enjoy and review myself.

which is kinda what anime is about, it's a bit more for a personal taste and feeling, that makes it hard to watch together unless its good. even though a lot of it is not good or okey if one like that, and accepting the japanese nonsense they put in stories that does much better without.
