I just want a proper Avatar movie full stop. One of the few times I would 100% support a complete reboot/redo.

No kidding. I found the TV series a bit lacking, but it was for a younger audience. It would be great to see it turned into a nice self-contained story with all the wrinkles smoothed out. Of course there's absolutely no way the fandom would accept that, so it'll probably never happen (especially after Shyamalan showed them how bad it could be).

Comet Lucifer's first episode was great.

The thing about the cartoon is it always made me smile...and still does to this day. I want a movie that makes me smile for the same reasons. Shyamalan achieved the absolute opposite. It has to be said however, that I don't need a movie. The ending was really solid and I'm happy for it to stay that way. Improving or adding anything would be really hard (though the comics give it a pretty good go).

Because literally everything (well, minus the ED) about it was great. Perfectly paced introduction to the world; (and a very nicely detailed and creative world at that) with excitement, good visuals, excellent sound design, no cringey exposition dump (show, not tell) and no ill-fitting comedic relief or tacked-on fanservice. I couldn't ask more from an introductory episode.

 

The only negative was having to wait so long for 1080p since Scandinavia got shafted out of a license for this show everywhere, and the 720p stream that first came out really cut into the clean look of the show.

It's interesting to me how long vs short videos on Youtube are treated. 

I know of an ASMR artist who has 270,000 subscribers, and most of his 10-20 minute videos got him 100,000-500,000 views. Then he released a 10 hour video (of non-repeated content, all unique), and it now has 1.76M views. So apparently a lot of people like the longer stuff.

 

I honestly want that movie. I just don't want it to suck like it's predecessor. I know it's very likely it will, but still. I can hope.

I'd like a Korra movie, so long as Shyamalan didn't direct it. Or at least stuck completely to source material.

I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw the trailer for the original Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. Then I heard it was shit. It was so disappointing.  

 

Same. But unfortunately, the creators of Avatar are moving past it. They have no desire to make more at the moment (though they did say they weren't saying there would never be more Avatar, just there wouldn't be more any time soon).

ya since i use youtube as a replacement for tv I would rather have longer content since its less work to play it and youtube sucks since you cant just have it play all your subscriptions and things like that.

I have no hope for the movie really.

As for their not being any more cartoons only time will tell if that will be the case. They are still making more of the comic and they were popular so it is always possible. As for a korra movie im all for that as long as they dont fuck it over lol. I remember seeing an image of a female mma fighter that seemed like she would be a perfect korra looks wise anyways lol

I liked the first 1/4 of sao but they killed it for me when they fucked over asuna as a character so i dropped it after the first season. If they did a remake starting in the first 1/4 of the move was about the 1/4 im good with it lol

so what part exactly did you drop it? after they got out of sao and into the new game, or while still in sao shortly after the introduction of asuna?

I watched the full first season I loved asuna as a character I was not a fan of what they did to her after the first half.

You know that little "Watch Later" button? Click it. Then go down your entire feed adding things in the order you would like to watch them. Then start the Watch Later playlist with Auto-play on. Once you've seen it all, empty the list. It's not that much work imo.

TL;DR: There are comics for what happens after the end of the Cartoon series when Aang and the gang are like 1-2 years older or something. That's being made into a series or movie, I forget which. 

There's also a comic (or it may have been one within the above mentioned series) that tells the story of Zuko's mom and what happened to her.

Well, the broadcast version of the anime is there to draw in fans so they buy it. How else are they to recoup their costs, really? They probably just got used to this system instead of selling full seasons at the end of the season, but it's not too different from what we have with our TV shows (as far as I know).

There are quite a few shows that have major production issues due to being rushed for broadcast... especially Shaft's anime tend to have that problem. The final BD release will fix these issues of QUALITY, and add in special effects that might have been toned down, for instance.

I think the major problem with this system is that it asks too much of the consumer, so as the quality of the shows dips there's no real reason to rush out and buy a BluRay for something that sucks. It's not like you can't find cheap porn/hentai online, so these studios will pretty much always lose in the long run unless they make a break-out hit that actually sells. Nice fight animation isn't exactly something people can afford to waste their time and money on in a recession, but when times are tough we do want something that will take our minds off of it for more than just a few minutes while we're watching it.

It's not different, but i think relying on episodes of higher quality about an anime people have seen already, is not a very good system. The only people that are going to buy it are the ones that loved it, specially if it is expensive.

They need to come up with a system that people that liked it a bit will help them too, not only people spending thousands of yen on BD's.

Halo Legends was magnificent. A Halo movie would be wonderful. I love movies that do the episodic thing with multiple different art styles (though the Batman one had some cringy stuff).

Amen, thank you, somebody else who likes Halo Legends. AFAIK a lot of people dislike it for some reason, but I thought it was great. Forward Unto Dawn was pretty good as well. I still need to watch Nightfall though. Definitely gonna finish that up before I get Halo 5.

 

But to see Halo on the big screen, done properly with a large budget and a good director... Then and only then may I die in peace.

So you'd think, but that's how it's been operating for years now, apparently. It's a pretty insular community, too, so I doubt they're going to listen to reason or see the writing on the wall unless something really big shakes them up. If Manglobe's demise can't get them to change, I doubt anything will.

Yeah, I did an ep-review of it yesterday. Seems better than season one at least, and I enjoyed it well enough.

your expectations are somewhat unreasonable

 

The only ones that are going to buy it are the ones that loved it regardless, making improvements to it before releasing it on BR is icing on the cake and will draw in more people that were on the fence over it. Giving it a few buffs that they had to exclude from time constraints is a smart move, in my opinion.

 

 

You have to -try- to make an outstanding anime, go for mass appeal to hit guaranteed audiences, and do it within a time constraint. It's not that straightforward of a thing to do. The first and second frequently counteract each other.
