I HATE Glass for back of phones. What is your favorite material?

I hate glass on back of phones. Because of Wireless charging phone mo longer do Aluminum back or unibody designs. 

 

I personally really like a well designed plastic back.

There are good and there are bad plastic phones. A good plastic back is resistant to breaking and somewhat resistant to scratches. 

 

Glass breaks, is slippery with the oils on your fingers, and it does scratch. 

 

What back do you enjoy and why? 

 

Glass back isn't to much of a problem if you have a case but even still, can break much easier.

Plastic and removable.. not even kidding. High end phones are stupid about this.

When I bought my OnePlus6t I put in in a case on day 1. A few months later I took it out of the case to clean it and realized the back glass had a small crack in it. The front/screen was fine.. just the back glass. In a case. 

 

I don't know what the solution is without feeling cheap but I agree, glass backs are a terrible idea.

If it weren't for wireless charging I'd say aluminum all day long.

i enjoy my glass back phone of my Xperias that i've owned (and own)

 

aluminum is fine but i think i find corrosion pits on it after some usage(?) not sure

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Aluminum back in a sturdy plastic case with a battery pack on the back of the case.

Glass cracks too easily and every plastic-back phone I've held felt cheap, so aluminum for rigidity, plastic for corrosion protection, and the battery pack for weight.

My phone is almost 9 years old and is plastic. So people can flush their "quality materials last long" argument right down the toilet.

I loved my Samsung, J7 Prime glass front, plastic back, removable battery. 

Currently have a moto G7 Plus, all glass, non-removable, and honestly, the all glass back has such high static friction on greasy/sweaty fingers, that I have rarely dropped it not in its case. And the Gorilla Glass 3 that is on it has taken a massive beating and the sum total of the damage is a few microscratches on the display.

Polycarbonate plastic is used on many many things, in fact it's quite common. When It comes to smart phones, many plastic phones use polymers. 

 

So when you say you havent seen it, you have you just didn't realize it.

Yes, plastic is polymers. Polycarbonate was used for Samsung Note20. Or the old Galaxy S3, S4, S5. 

 

Polycarbonate plastic is common and used many times with phones.

Glass cracks too easily and every plastic-back phone I've held felt cheap, so aluminum for rigidity, plastic for corrosion protection, and the battery pack for weight.

Stainless Steel makes sense too. Way more rigid than aluminum, but has some give in the event of a drop.

I do like those unibody designs. Loved it with the polycarbonate phones. Stainless steal just doesn't allow wireless charging. They are also a little heavier but some people like that.
