Hi linus, i was remembering old times and i remembered a few years ago, you build a PC Cooled by Mineral Oil....so...i was thinking....what about doing a remake with new components and oc them
i think that would be a great video

thanks for reading this if you do

Merged to video suggestions thread.

Probably not very good. It looks like stock cooler with fancy housing. While cooling performance might still be acceptable compared to new stock coolers, that's about it.

Hey guys

Well im in the progress of " learning" and  "trying" to find the components  i need to be able to build my first pc

(well idk about actually building it myself, as its bound to go BANG if i do it, yes im a chicken ! haha  , but i know someone who can)

im just trying to get all the parts together at mo, to give to him , but I would like to learn ..

Ive watched your vids on building , i understand where the parts go ,, but where i get stuck is...

wheres all the leads go ? ( u dont seem to explain the connectors or show where they go in detail ) maybe you can do a vid on this please ?

and ... once you got the thing built and switch it on .. then what ?  ( u dont show what u have to do next , ie bios settings , or other settings you need to do ?

or even how to install windows on a brand new drive ... I dont understand any of this yet ... so a vid on this would be cool too please

yes ok .. it maybe easy or pointless to u guys but .. ive never done it , and i dont want to be left in the dark anymore .. its scary ! haha

Another thing ... not all but a lot of vids are all based on the most expensive components, its like watching top gear where they only talk about the top of the range sports cars

that im never going to be able to afford unless i win the lotto or Linus becomes my new best friend :)  .. but then afterwards they say .. " Well if we show you more cheaper cars your get bored of the show "    or " its just for entertainment"

whats the point of me watching something to expensive that i can only dream and dribble over ?

So i would like to see more vids on mid range products ,  what the average working class  joe ..  can afford...

and what components work best with other components.. Like  ie does a pc only work best , if all the parts are from one company ?

whats the compatible difference .. between using a MSI motherboard and a Nvidia GPU and G-skill Ram , is there any discrepancies between them ? than using all Asus components say (for example)

Obviously i understand not all companies make all the parts needed , and i understand that MSI might make a great motherboard, but a rubbish GPU

( Im not saying that MSI do or dont )

Asus brought all this Rog Strix out ( yes i watched your vid , build a pc all out of all Asus Rog Strix very nice too ) but its way over my price budget , yes i understand that theres some out there that can afford it ... but cant u do a more mid range builds too , and explain what components work best with other components on a cheaper build also please ?

As much as i wish i was rich .. unfortunately im not .

and i also think , where all about to get a huge shock on how much the new RTX 3000 series GPU are going to be too ..

Im currently waiting .. to find out if im going to be able to afford one or not,  before i make my final mind up on what im going to build.

and whats going to be the better Mid range boards to run it ?

Ive spent hours, weeks and months reading and watching vids , not just from you , on whats parts are best to buy and what works best together that i can afford

and my honest end conclusion .. Im still going round in circles.. so some more vids on this would be helpful for a noob too please

Like the vids what u done so far, and the humour Linus / guys brings to them too

Thanks SI UK  (across the pond )

( special mention to Boggy77  one of your forum members, like me ..  for his advice on trying to help me with my quest .. thanks )

And if you guys have got any advice for me too, please get in touch , it a be much appreciated

That is absolutely what it is, but it actually sounds like a jet engine too and its damn hilarious. Not that it really warrants a video for LTT specifically, it would have a much better place on a retro computer hardware channel.

I'm currently building a new rig and figured a Gen 4 SSD was a no brainer to keep up with the next generation of consoles and would give comparable load times in Games Pass titles when bouncing between my Series X and PC. But a recent video showing LTT team members seeing very little difference between SATA, Gen 3 and Gen 4 had me wondering what was going on, so i went looking for benchmarks and the story seems to be the same. If you want to transfer files then you see a difference in drive speeds, but game load times seem to be the same regardless of the type/speed of ssd used. So where is the bottleneck? Are games badly coded? Is the hardware just not able to read from different locations on the drives fast enough? if so what is the hardware component holding the PC back? The drive itself, the motherboard, CPU or RAM? or is it a combination of multiple hardware factors? when the PS5 SSD was announced and detailed, PC users (Linus included) were as quick as gen 4 to point out that PC's have way faster SSDs and proceeded to laugh at consoles still playing catchup. but as mentioned, one of LTT's own videos has shown on PC it does not seem to matter how fast the hardware is, load times remain the same as a 2.5" SATA SSD.

I'd love to see a video looking into why PC's just can't load games as fast as the next gen consoles, when on paper they out perform them on drive speeds. Are PC gamers doomed to be stuck with long load screens when console gamers gradually forget what a load screen is over the next few years? Is there a way to get faster load times on PC? or is the custom hardware in the new consoles the key to faster load times? Can Linus build a PC that actually keeps up with next gen consoles not just in graphics quality (which PC's can easily out perform consoles on even if they do cost way more) but load times and in game asset loading/streaming, and how much will it cost to build an actual console killer in 2020, can it even be done? or is it time for PC gamers to bow down to the new console master race?

Challenge Accepted?

Please review an 8Pack system. This guy is insane and builds custom, overclocked systems for game enthusiasts as well as people who actually need hugely-spec'd systems like hardcore video editors and people who need to run simulations etc. He builds custom computers for a company in the UK called overclockers (www.overclockers.co.uk). He's also a body builder which is odd for a PC enthusiast :)

His highest-end system is actually a dual-PC system and it's £32,999.99 called the Orion X2, but he has a line of systems called Infin8 for those that require slightly lower-spec'd systems (the cheapest being £4,099.99). He collaborates with PC and PC component manufacturers to bring out his own line of high-end products which he uses in his systems, including an 8Pack intel i9 9600k, 9700k and 9900, and his systems aren't just overclocked to the flippin' max but they look the sh** too!

Please please please review one of these systems, they're just amazing and I want to see you guys do your thing :)

It's already been talked about in the apology video and WAN show that came after it.

On the hardware side consoles tend to use unified memory which could be done on PCs but would come with drawbacks that may or may not be acceptable such as not being upgradeable or modular anymore, or just becoming too expensive if it's to also be capable of everything a PC is capable of.

Consoles are optimized for one thing only which is why they can afford that approach, but it would probably not be viable for PCs.

Probably won't matter at all since by the time that console generation is at end of life PC parts will have caught up in performance anyway.

Turns out there is a thread for that huh... (sorry colton for that DM...)

Anyways, could you guys make a full review on the Logitech G X Herman Miller Embody Gaming Chair and have Taran as a second host (and actually have him try the chair for a few days) ?

I'm highly interested in said chair, but would also like to also hear from someone who's struggling with ergonomics like Taran, especially because you guys seem to have missed a paddle on the left hand side that adjusts the tension when you lean back.

Other than that, great video; hoping for a follow up.

buying individual same brand, model, spec RAM sticks for dual channel vs a proper RAM kit

like buying two individual trident z sticks or mixing ram from another trident z ram kit vs the actual trident z ram kit

With Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) releasing tomorrow, it would be really cool to see the "Ideal AMD spec vs Ideal Intel spec".

Or just a Flight sim specific build, considering the graphics the sim will be pretty amazing. Would also be interesting to see framrate in the sim compared to common benchmarks.

Definitely an interesting video, but I doubt it will come from LTT. The cost to set something like this up would be enormous for them.

Some channel out there is already prepping for this though. That much I'm sure of.

Absolutely, there are loads of channels that specialist in Flight Simulator stuff and with this new surge of interest we will see a lot of interesting videos come from them.

LTT has not reviewed holodeck technology yet.
Running the "Book of the Dead" Unity demo on it should be great. Unity version 2018.2 is recommended for compilation. An already compiled version can be found here.

A64FX:
Is ARM already faster than x86 on the desktop? Benchmarking file compression, Blender, video editing and, of course, Crysis on an A64FX should be interesting. The A64FX runs Linux and Windows.
If LTT can't get an A64FX system, renting an instance could be an alternative.

PowerVR ray tracing:
Reviewing ray tracing from Imagination Technologies would also be interesting. Thier hardware is much more effective than RTX. Here and here is why.

Hey!

So me and my buddies have been talking about building a small PC just to run streaming services and small tasks and here's the kicker:  It's in the small blue container that the CPU actually comes in.

What if you guys built a small PC to use at the house using a raspberry pi?
I was wondering if that's even feasible and I think it would make for some great content!
Love your channel, its helped me out a lot for me learning how to use PCs and make my own

They've recently made a video where they built a Pi into a monitor's casing.

You guys recently did a video where you had JayzTwoCents and Gamers Nexus compete on troubleshooting a system. You also have the ROG reboot videos where you have viewers build a computer where they get to take it home. So mash these two concepts together.

Hold some sort of competition to select viewers that will need to compete against each other on troubleshooting a computer.

I know I would personally love to participate!

A video testing what category cable is needed for each speed at each length. People do run 10 gig over cat 5e, but no one seems to have clear answers on the length that it works at. The test matrix could look like this:

Cat 5e UTP solid/ FTP solid/ UTP stranded/ FTP stranded

Cat 6 UTP solid/ FTP solid/ UTP stranded/ FTP stranded

Cat 6a UTP solid/ FTP solid/ UTP stranded/ FTP stranded

Cat8?

Tested at many lengths. 10ft, 25ft, 50ft, 100ft, 150ft, 200ft, 250ft, 300ft, 350ft, 400ft, 450ft, 500ft, 600ft, 700ft, 800ft, 900ft, 1000ft
Tested at speeds 100mbit, 1gbit, 2.5gbit, 5gbit, 10gbit, (40gbit?)

There are specs for that.

Beyond those specs it might work or not, and if you took 10 cables of the same rating you would likely get 10 different results. So such testing would pretty much make no sense.

A review of the poin2 chromebook 14 would be a good video, its a super budget machine (150$) but feels a lot better than that, could be interesting as poin2 as a company is interesting.
