My thoughts

 

Regular iPhone 12 Blue is very interesting personally, the HomePod Mini looks reminiscent of the Echo Dot 4th Gen being upside down in my opinion.

Kinda excited what they'll release. Don't have any plans to upgrade, but it's just always so nice to watch Apple's events. Especially now that they have them pre-recorded and they always do it so professionally.

Yeah definitely a shame, I liked Midnight Green as well, they could have easily kept both but seems like they want to try and get people upgrading adopted 'one exclusive' colour model on Pros and the 12. It seems like we lost one colour option, if I recall correctly there were 6 to choose from on the 11.

Anyways, the iPhone 12 Mini is new and therefore interesting; I'm already pumped about their next event!  I hope to also see an updated iPad Pro (they kinda cannibalized the current one in September) and the ARM iMacs.  If those two come at a later date, though, then it is what it is.

 

C'mon Apple!  AMD's event was depressing (due to pricing); #MakeTechstormHappyAgain!

The iPhone 12 Mini so far sounds like a great option for those who don't like large phones. Since I am in that camp I am looking forward to the annoucement and hope it is a decent offering overall.

I'm looking forward to trading in my Xs for $250 (I assume that's still the price) and then getting a Mini for $450.

Is this with Apple? Are there any independent recycling websites in the US? In the UK you can get £360 for XS in Good Condition (Wear and Tear acceptable).

Yeah, that's with Apple. If someone offered me more, I'd happily take it, since my phone is in good condition, but it's only the 64GB version.

 

Edit: Looks like online offers are in the $150-200 range.

Apple is slowly becoming one of the only companies that makes decently sized high end phones alongside Samsung.

 

I love that 5.5 - 6.1 inch range for screens.

I mean you can always look at carrier deals if you don't mind the hassle of switching (or if you don't have an amazing grandfathered in plan).

 

Like I was gonna go for the iPhone 12 but T-Mobile was doing a deal where I could trade in my iPhone X and get $1000 credit, so an iPhone 11 Pro Max would be only $100, which is a killer deal, and I was planning on switching carriers anyways so it was a perfect deal. The leaks don't really excite me, like faster and better camera? That sounds like XS improvements, and that show was boring AF.

Lets hope this year all Android phone manufaturers copy the small screen instead of all the downsides (notches, absurd pricing, removal of headphone jack, etc).

Wow, this leak is underwhelming. Nobody would even notice if you would use iPhone 11 pictures and just tell people "this is the new iPhone 12".

Oh wow, we do pay a lot more for the new devices over here in the UK (£729 for iPhone 11 vs $699 for iPhone 11 in the US) and that is not even taking into account the conversion rates etc. But I must say the used handset market is very strong, especially for apple devices. I sold my 11 a couple of days ago for £505 and I only paid £599 for it second hand a week after release last year

Yep, apart from the LiDAR sensor and changes under the hood including camera sensors and most likely a magnet charger (subjective on how useful), but yep that's about it.

Theres still phones with headphone jacks, and some that aren't stupidly expensive.

I'd rather have the hole punch, not as bad a large notch imo.

No, it's much worse. I really enjoy my Mate 20 Pro with the "invisible" notch. It just displays some general information left and right of the notch (white text with a black background, like battery, signal strength, provider, etc), but it's invisible in fullscreen mode. I don't need the additional screen space and it would be just irritating to look at the notch or a punch hole with bright content around it.
