What were your first specs?

BurstSMG

First legit PC was probably this shit :
http://www.backoffice.be/prod_uk/Packard_Bell/p180111614_packard_bell_platinum_8700_gf_rw_mt_1_x_piii_.asp

Before that I had some old ms-dos one that I basically only used once and never touched it again.

I had originally posted about it in 2014 on the forum with more info:

Quote

I don't remember much about my first PC... All I remember is that it had a slot for 8 inch floppy disk and seemed to be running on MS-DOS or some variant. (No GUI, only command lines)

After that we bought a Packard Bell PC, 128MB of Ram, Intel P3 733Mhz. I don't remember anything else about it. But a quick search on google gave me this
http://www.backoffice.be/prod_uk/Packard_Bell/p180111614_packard_bell_platinum_8700_gf_rw_mt_1_x_piii_.asp

Can't be 100% sure it's the same, but the look of it is extremely similar from what little I remember of it, especially that monitor with the speakers on the side, I remember that. We bought that PC for over $2k at the time... Today, you'd have to pay something to get rid of it, .

(We had upgraded the memory to 192MB (128+64) relatively quickly, then again to 256 a year or so later and once more near the end to 512, we switched to Windows XP from the time it had 192MB of RAM)

First computer was a Commodore 128, which I have the vaguest of memories of from the very early 90’s.

First PC was some kind of 386 or 486 running MS-DOS with specs I was too young to remember, but I do recall playing some games like Stunt Driver and Sam & Max Hit The Road.

The first one I really remember the details on though was a Pentium 166 MMX with S3 ViRGE graphics that played most 3D games in slideshow mode. Oh how I dreamed of getting a Voodoo 2 to add on to that crappy card! We also had internet on this PC circa ~1996 when it was slow, expensive, and mostly pointless. I do miss the simplicity of the Web 1.0 era sometimes though.

Current build: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, ASUS PRIME X570-Pro, EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra, G.Skill 2x16GB 3600C16 DDR4, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, Sabrent Rocket 1TB, Corsair RM750x, Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. B, Phanteks Enthoo Pro M, LG 27GL83A-B

I don't remember it all, the CPU was running at 400MHz, think it was a Pentium II like this:

https://www.cnet.com/products/intel-pentium-ii-400-mhz-processor-80523py400512/

Had 2 HDD's in it, went absolute overboard with Storage, my friends thought I never would need this much. Each HDD had a capacity of 2GB.

GPU I think was something Voodoo ish, maybe the 2 with 8MB of VRAM.

This PC might still sit at my mum's house in all its glory. I don't feel old now, I feel ancient.

first first PC... something with Windows 98 or 2000 on it. I can't even tell you what it was. Probably some Pentium based system.

It was really good at playing Lego Rock Raiders. I don't think I played any other games on it cuz I wasn't good at the other games when I played them on other PCs.

Oh! And some Tonka game. You had to like shovel the snow, build a building, put a construction machine together. Mostly Rock Raiders though.

I don't remember exactly. It had an AMD FX processor and 8GB or RAM, I know that. It was a pre-built that my dad bought for me at Fry's. I later took the insides out and put it in a Thermaltake case. That was my first experience with building my own.

I only remember that my processor had ~80 mhz so I often visited my uncle because his had a bit over 100 mhz. My PC could not play the games I wanted to.

Specs of the first PC I actually learned to use, I don't remember super well but I do know it had a Cyrix 233 CPU, like 16MB or 32MB of RAM, a 2GB Seagate hard drive, and a Diamond Stealth PCI video card of some sort. If you wanna get technical, the first PC I actually interacted with was an IBM PC 5160 XT with an Intel 8088. I know it had a 10MB hard drive and a CGA video card, but beyond that I don't remember anything. I barely touched the thing. I didn't really understand command line until several years after my dad stopped using it.

The specs of the first PC I ever built myself were as follows:

MGE Sidewinder case

400W MGE PSU originally (piece of garbage), replaced with FSP 450W

Gigabyte GA-7N400-L Motherboard (nVidia nForce 2 400 chipset)

AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (400MHz FSB version)

512MB PQI DDR 400 RAM originally, then doubled to 1GB

Maxtor 160GB IDE Hard Drive (also garbage, but survived till next PC)

Jetway GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB AGP originally, then an EVGA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra, and lastly an EVGA GeForce 6600GT AGP

Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 originally, then a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS

I started with a CTX 17" CRT briefly, then had a Dell 19" CRT, then ended with an Acer AL1917 19" LCD

Logitech Elite Keyboard

Logitech MX510 Mouse (Blue)

Logitech Z640 Speakers originally (they died), and replaced them with a set of X530 speakers which I still have and use on my old CRT TV for older game systems
