My first own personal rig had a Core 2 Duo E4300, 2GB of RAM and a 9600GT(? maybe an 8600GT, though I do know for sure that my next GPU was an HD 4850).

I know I had a P5QL-PRO from ASUS, though I can't recall if that was the board I was using initially, and I also can't remember the rest of the parts, though these above are the most noteworthy ones anyway I guess.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

First?

P4 @ 3.0ghz

3.5gb of ddr2 555 mhz ram (had 4 gb, but was limited by windows XP)

some weird radeon gpu that was like 17 years old

Next?

C2Q Q6600 2.4ghz (later BSEL modded to 3ghz.)

4gb of ddr2 555 mhz ram

hd 2600xt, but had no DVI cable or s video cable, was on igpu

Post upgrade it was

4gb of ddr2 666mhz ram

hd3650 (this thing had DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort, but was slower than the 2600xt)

Then the PSU died, so now its

Athlon 64 TF-20

3gb of ?mhz ddr3 ram

radeon HD3200

This is my laptop to desktop conversion :)

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

AMD K6-2 333 Mhz with a PC Chips Elpina M577 motherboard and 32 MB of 133 Mhz SDRAM,  S3 Trio 3D video card and 4 GB (I think?) Maxtor hard drive and some Samsung optical drive that was crap. A4Tech keyboard and mouse, some AOC 14" CRT monitor ( still remember the shop owner gave me an awesome Phillips 20" monitor for a week until the AOC I ordered arrived).

Upgraded to S3 Savage 3D because it was cheap, the firmware got corrupted somehow within a week and card stopped playing 3D games ... shop owner replaced it with S3 Savage 4 and that also crapped out a couple weeks later so he gave up and gave me an nVidia Vanta 8 MB at no extra charge (I think it was something like 20% extra back then, compared to S3 cards)

Oh, oh, can I also participate?!

My first Home Computer was a Commodore 64, running a MOS6510 at 0.985MHz with 64KB RAM. My first "Intel PC" was an 8086 or 8088 -- can't remember anymore which one -- running at 4MHz and sporting a monochrome IBM MDA - display. No HDD, only 5.14" floppies. Can't remember the RAM on it, anymore, either. It was a salvage from a local factory and in a pretty bad shape. I upgraded pretty soon to an IBM PS/2 Model 30 with a 80286 CPU, 4MB RAM, 1440KB floppy-drive and a 20MB HDD -- pretty beefy upgrade!

product-75632.jpg.2fc184bfc00c523338c5e6f13cab01f1.jpg

Commander Keen ran on it very nicely and I also played some Wolfenstein 3D and Leisure Suit Larry! Such a gaming-machine. DOOM wouldn't run on it, since it required a 80386 or higher CPU.

First overall was P2 equivalent, 200MHz, 2Gb HDD. Thats pretty much all I remember from it. For games, we played a lot of Worms 2 and NFS 2. I think we had some DOS machine before that (P2 was with Win95), and games on it were some pinball I can't find, and Win Tapper.

My own custom rig is from 2008 when I moved to study. So C2D E8400, 4Gb of DDR2, 300Gb HDD, 8800GT GPU. I played still BF2 at that time mainly, but TF2 was the game I built the rig for.

First rig I blew up was socket A 462pin. Thought it to be a good idea to remove the heatsink and turn it on. Pop and poofed that one lol.

Skipped socket 754 because it was short lived and s939 was just released.

Picked up Asus A8NSLI deluxe paired with a FX-55. Ran 2x 7600GT cards in SLI.

I supported Ageia Physx and grabbed one of their PPU cards and just had a blast with that, although games where super limited with support.

Ah the good old days!
