Received a random package from Amazon...

Go to solution Solved by Velcade,

This is pretty common.  Sellers do this to show sales and then generate fake 5 star reviews.

Unless you're a big face girl, I'd throw it away and not think about it anymore.

A friend of mine received a random package from Amazon the other day. It was shipped from Amazon (Vermont) to Amazon (friends address). I'll attach a picture of the fans that were inside of it. There were probably 10 fans in the package and they each have a USB that can either plug into a computer or a power brick. Should my friend use these? I was thinking of plugging these in outside overnight to see if they work? Attached are some pictures.

Possession is 9/10ths the law, and Amazon shipped them to you.  Keep em, return em, resell em doesnt matter.  As for them working, its very likely they do and I dont see a need to "test" them to ensure they arent a bomb.

They seem quite...1st world in needs though lol

While you can keep them as @Tristerin said, you should also report them to Amazon; it's a scam. Most importantly, it means his personal info has likely been breached.

I would contact Amazon and tell them I didn’t order this, and ask for a prepaid return shipping label.

I wouldn’t keep them (even if Amazon offered) because I’d have no use for them.

Even if law said I could keep them, I would have an obligation to at least try and return them to Amazon.

Was the package addressed to your friend's name? Or to "Amazon" ? (Not sure I get that part)

I'd report it to Amazon, saying they've received an unwanted package and see where things go from there. If they ask for it back, send it back. If they say you can keep it, just keep it. Doesn't matter even if you have no use for it. Look up the price and sell them off on ebay or whatever.

Someone probably keyed the wrong adress when ordering. You don't have to worry about bringing it back, though. Atleast if you live in the US. There is a law here that makes it perfectly legal to keep whatever a retailer sent to you. I think it was thanks to a lawsuit filed, and lost, by Amazon oddly enough. No idea if you live in another country.

Seems no one noticed the obvious, did your friend name or any name she put in the amazon account hers. In the mailing label does it mention her name/account username name and is it the right address. And no, I wouldn't return it finders keepers I'd prefer to burn it and plugged in in a camp fire and make crazy things of destruction rather than return it. Also even if you contact them, they would be like, u yeah, hard to give you a return label for something not in your account or they would simply look at the shipping cost and it would cost more for hem to return an no identified item unknown to them becasue it is not in your acocunt.
