There’s all of those plus In the US holding a knife changes a simple assault to adw which is a big big jump, and can make something assault even if it wasn’t before.  the definition of assault can get very very technical.  Like which hand you have the knife in combined with which foot is forward.  When you’re just standing there doing nothing. Lots of people get technically assaulted every day and don’t even notice. Stuff changes from area to area and over time.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Link seems to say it specifically is.  There appear to be a bunch of loopholes though.  Weapons legislation usually happens after a particularly offensive crime was committed involving a given implement.  It’s how semi automatic weapons got banned in Australia, at least according to this Australian comedian who is popular in the US.  I Dont know what a “zombie” knife is even after reading the description.

I totally agree with @WereCatf. To all those American prep people: Did you ever thought about the reasons, why your society is so violent, that you have to carry weapons? Maybe you have too many weapons in the open public. You wouldn't have to carry a weapon, if other people didn't. And btw, crime can be fought with different techniques than just more weapons. Ever wondered, why America has such high crime and incarceration rates and other countries don't?

I mean, go on and do whatever you want, but I'm happy to live somewhere, where this stuff isn't the way it is in the US.

Where do you live... Xanadu? "crime can be fought with different techniques than just more weapons"? What... run away, curl up like a whipped puppy? I'm too old and busted up to try hand to hand or flee from an attacker. I will stand my ground and defend my family, property and way of life. If you can convince the criminals not to commit crimes and bodily harm to others, then problem solved...

By fighting crime with weapons, you're not really preventing it from happening. You're only pushing the problems away from you. The only real way to prevent crime from happening, is to look at the underlying reasons for crime. These issues might be poverty, bad education, or a bad social system. The vast majority of criminals isn't plain evil. And the reasons for crime can't be solved with weapons imo. However, achieving might need affordable healthcare, good free education and in general a more social society. While I would appreciate all of this, some people would call it evil communism.

I really don't want to go into the politics to far because of the community standards, but I think, that I can call your behaviour egoistic in some way, since it doesn't solve the problem for the society, only for you.

Edit: And if your only argument is your big fat rifle, you don't really have any real arguments imo.

"mire" was a plain typo. I meant "more social society".

The issue with the soviet union was, that they did some crucial things wrong. It suffered from corruption, surpression and so forth. The healthcare wasn't reliable, the education might've been for free, but not good and I wouldn't call a surveillance state, that surpresses their citizens, social. There's more than just the extremes (capitalism/communism).

An open democratic debate, where everyone can have their opinion, in which real arguments with proper proofs are more valuable than emotionally loaded diffamations, would be a step in the right direction imo.

Good to be a...........

A majority of states (27) have now enacted Stand Your Ground laws applicable in all public places, starting with Utah in 1994 and then, at the behest of the NRA, Florida in 2005. In seven others, court decisions have removed a traditional “duty to retreat” in public.

States with Shoot First Statutes

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Florida
Georgia
Idaho
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
North Carolina
Oklahoma
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
West Virginia
Wyoming

States with Stand Your Ground by Court Decisions

Eight additional states permit the use of deadly force in self-defense in public with no duty to retreat through a combination of statutes, judicial decisions, and/or jury instructions. These states are distinct from true “Florida-style” laws in several respects, however. For one, many of the shoot first protections established in these states may only be invoked during criminal trials, as opposed to the Florida law and the ALEC model, which enable a shooter to escape liability in a pretrial hearing. Additionally, these states do not have some of the especially onerous elements found in the Florida law, such as the provision preventing law enforcement from arresting a shooter without probable cause that the force used was unlawful.

California
Colorado
Illinois
New Mexico
Oregon
Virginia
Vermont
Washington

States with Expanded Castle Doctrine

Three states expand the castle doctrine to allow people to use deadly force as a first resort in defense of property that is not the home, such as an occupied car.

North Dakota
Ohio
Wisconsin

Extreme Stand Your Ground Laws

Several states have enacted particularly heinous “shoot first” laws which, among other things, allow for the use of deadly force in response to property crimes or against a fleeing person. These laws make it easier for people to get away with extrajudicial murders.

Arrest Restrictions

Several states have provisions in their shoot first laws which prevent law enforcement from arresting a person who claims self defense. This interferes with law enforcement’s ability to properly investigate these deaths.

Florida
Kansas
Kentucky
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee

Deadly Force against Property Crimes

Several states allow people to use deadly force to counter non-violent property crimes, including people breaking into unoccupied vehicles, stretching these “shoot-first” statutes past their purported ‘self-defense’ goals.

Arizona
Florida
Illinois
Mississippi
Oregon
Texas

Deadly Force against a Fleeing Person

Texas allows the use of deadly force against a person fleeing after a burglary if the person using force reasonably believes that the property cannot be protected or recovered by any other means. At least one additional state permits the use of deadly force against fleeing people through a citizen’s arrest statue, which raises similar concerns to “shoot first” statutes with regard to disparate racial impact, and the use of deadly force outside the home more generally.

Well, the education was great... Soviet scientists, academics and other professionals were very much sought out after the collapse of the union, so that's really goes against your thoughts on education. Not gonna go further into this because the mods will be angry :D I'm bit curious though, how old are you and where do you live? Even more, your social status would be interesting to know.No offense or something, just curious. If you would be kind and answer these questions we can do that over pm's, also further political discussion can continue over pm's if you like.

When Soviet public schools were compared to US public schools of the period they weren’t very good in comparison.  That was pre Regan though.  The problem is public schools in the US as a whole have gotten vastly worse.  If a soviet era public school were compared to a modern US public school I suspect the soviet one would possibly win hands down.  I’ve got no numbers though so it could be merely what it kind of looks like from where I am standing.  A single ground level view is Never a great referent no matter where that person is standing.  From where I am standing the earth also looks flat. I have stood places where it didn’t.  Stand on a car hood in the middle of the North Dakota Lake Agassiz basin (prehistoric lake that covered large sections of the state) and you can Sometimes see the curvature of the earth.  North Dakota is scary in a couple of ways.  Even if accurate though, This would say more about modern America than it does about the Soviet Union though.

No, not at all. If you live in a state that permits a person to carry a firearm on their person such as the State of Oklahoma allows me, I am preventing a person with ill intent from committing a crime on me. Since the institution of open and conceal carry (along with Stand your Ground and Castle laws) in my State, criminals now think twice before entering someones house or doing bodily harm to another. Your soft handed socialist tactics only exaggerate the issues of crime. Why is it so terrible in your mind for a person having the God given right to defend themselves?
