IT'S FINALLY DONE! Hack Pro Final Assembly

NickHeavy

In part 5 of this series we get our G5 case prepped for paint, finalize any cutouts, and permanently affix our front and rear panels with some binder clips and JB weld. We also fit our massive Aourus C621 Xtreme back into the case for an almost final build.

Linus said in the video about disassembling it after this is all done. Why? This took so much work, it's a unique and amazing machine. Just keep it a permanent installation in the LMG office!

Probably so that they can reuse some of the parts for future builds.

But they should display it in one of their sets with the LEDs running.

"Wheres your Hack Pro?"

Sitting behind me in pieces lol. G5's are compute cases and I needed hard drives for my storage server :P

https://imgur.com/a/4gLLa

I reused the original PSU case and put some junky 850w psu in it. EATX/SSI EEB motherboards and larger are just kinda too big for this thing to reasonably fix for the most part.1

Also why not re-anodize the case in black? Or would that be far too expensive or just not practical/possible?

Screw that, they're committed! Unless newer better stuff comes out that they can install into it with little/no modification. It should remain a working unit, especially after all that hard work. It was all in vain otherwise.

Hack Pro is amazing! But it gives you an appreciation for why people just cough up the money for an actual Mac Pro.

As for where is my Hack Pro, it’s under my desk! (Though it doesn’t run macOS)

Throwing a 28 core processor and over a quarter terrabyte of ram in a machine that will rarely be used would be wasteful.

Who says it has to be used rarely? I'm sure they could find something to do with it, even if it means ditching MacOS.

What is actually supposed to go here? Some people put their specs, others put random comments or remarks about themselves or others, and there are a few who put cryptic statements.

At the beginning of the video when I saw Linus with that wig, I though he was supposed to be a hippy or something.

Using an airbrush isn't voodoo, in point of fact, it's easier to use than a rattle can for a paint job, I'm surprised you guys don't have one.

And the inside of that case is a mess. Yeah computer aren't supposed to be moved, but a power supply held in only by gravity is a bad idea IMO. I know you wanted to shove as much techno toys in this case as possible, but honestly it seems ill thought out.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Ultimate Linux Gaming PC when ?

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

They always comment (whinge actually) on price and upgradeability on a Mac so… How much was the total cost of this thing (labour hours included - that means troubleshooting too) and lets see it being upgraded to Thunderbolt to show us how 'easy' it is please ;)

Hi everybody, I will never have the possibility to build something this magnificent, but I gave my best efforts considering I'm alone in this project and not experienced in handcrafting.

here is what I managed to get together:

 MOBO X570-A Pro

CPU Ryzen 3600 with a thermaltake AIO

 16GB of 3000 Mhz DDR4

 GPU MSI Vega 56 Airboost

 SSD Q860 EVO 1TB and 500GB Sabrent M.2 SSD

PSU (for form factor reasons) Silverstone 700 W

It took me a while to put it together and I'm still working on it, but I wanted to reply to LINUS on the final Hack Pro assembly video

 on minute 12:23 XD.

For Linus, thanks for all the contents and keep building (and, sometimes, dropping) stuff !

Thanks again for the grate contents and greetings from Italy.
