BOINC Pentathlon 2020

I must admit 20MPPD on F@H sounds a lot better than 220,000PPD on NumberFields.

Switched all my CPU threads over to OpenPandemic on WCG for a change of pace once I swapped memory about and cleaned dust filters.

Youngest kid is thrilled with their new White Corsair Vengance RGB Pro 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 kit replete with Rainbow Vomit. I'm positive it will make MineCraft run faster.

I have a bunch of clean up to do.. Number fields and iber tasks.. ill finish them before i go to other things! :)

Ok I have a question!  When i run at 100% at 3.8Ghz my temps are 65C-ish. When I run at 50% (4.2GHz)my temps are 75Cish... why?? All because of the higher clock?

Welp, back to WCG.

If anybody here doesn't know what to do now consider taking a look into World Community Grid's new OpenPandemics project for COVID-19. Something good to throw your CPU's at. :D

OpenPandemics race? Bring it on :)

Ive thought about various true workstation PC's in the past because I f'n love PC hardware, but everything I truly do (lots of gaming, occasional but rare renders in premiere, photoshop) is perfectly done with a 9900k right now.  I really would love a reason to buy a 3960x machine, or even 3950x, but I just dont have a good argument to put the money there rather than into GPU moneys.

Respect for all you hardcore guys with all those CPU cores that held it down for the event, I just cant hang!

Thank yall' I know I was only on this for the second half, but it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about how BOINC works. SO to all the big folders for your guidance. I have one (maybe two) more computers I work on running next year, just need some more of a heads up. I hope we did a lot of good, and 6th is a hell of a finish! Going to give the desktop a day off of the hard work, before I get him working again. Hopefully the cool weather persists, gonna have to back off when the AC kicks on.

I might have to put some of my thermo to work and do some energy spreadsheets for costs during heating season / cooling season / windows season

Marathon we finished 3rd. Overall we finished 6th. Last year we finished 10th Overall so all considering we did a ton better this year. I hope to add more to my arsenal to contribute more next year. 78C/156T was not enough.

I'm not going to go full tilt though. Reducing BOINC to 12 hour cycles due to the increasing heat outside and my personal rig I'm only letting it run when I'm not using it. I estimate my daily productivity will hover around 60,000ppd. That doesn't even compare to your potential though you'll average 60,000 about every 2 hours.

Looks like it's time I give the 5960X rig a little TLC. It pulled through for the Marathon but trying to switch it back to WCG it's hanging again. Will have to diagnose either tomorrow or over the weekend.

Because of the higher Voltage needet to get the 4.2Ghz running (P (in Watt) = U (in Volt) * I (in amps), so if U or I rises, youre Wattages rises and a lot more heat is beeing produced)

You know what I'd like to see? LTT hold their own BOINC events even if all we do is compete against each other. I'd partake just for the fun of it. Kind of lame that there's only one major event that everyone here gets involved in a year.

Opposite here. Summer is breaking so I'm turning the equipment down. I hope to maintain at least 60,000ppd on OpenPandemics. I'll know in a couple days if I need to tweak anything. Already up to the silver badge though. :P

Temperature are getting higher, its getting a bit uncomfortable to have everything running full time.

While in winter its nice, allow for "free" heating.
