Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

I was hoping it would enable things like pooling available work units... cos i do have all mine set to next-unit-percentage=95 but unfortunately although they are all the same gpu (10 of em) they only queue the units up for themselves and the program isnt smart enough to switch em over if another folding slot gets ready for a new one first

yeah its just a reader so it does nothing to help like that it just give me a HUD so i know whats up. like my R7-350x in my 8910 is runnig slow...checked temps  its at 180-190f once it completes this run its retiring once and for all. as i dont want to fry it.

Interesting. I've got 11 remote rigs that are just sitting with standalone clients. I've got another 9 rigs to go online this week and i'm trying to find a better way of monitoring and tracking them all.

The rigs themselves are all on Ubuntu 18 server. My central computer would be Win 10.

HFM.net will do that.  you just enable the monitoring in the f@H app on ubuntu and bam. you only install HFM on the Computer you are watching with

Project 13873 seems to be pretty juicy. Was 161MB dl 28.8k base reward and its worth a good third more than what ive been getting so far in terms of ppd :o

Still getting soo few WUs

Like I get 100-200k points a day, I should be doing 800k ish.

I found Linux a bit trickier to set up with nvidia cards, just manually installing the nonfree firmware and drivers and OpenCL, but there's a much lower system overhead. I don't really know first hand how they compare, didn't use Windows long enough to get good numbers.

People in forums say Linux performs better with nvidia cards because of driver implementation differences.

Under Ubuntu 18.04 (with snap packages) my GTX1080 at stock is getting about 388k a day, ignoring the CPU score, according to XOC

I would suggest Debian rather than Ubuntu, because with the Buster release it's much easier to install than before, and no snaps so even lower overhead. I used Ubuntu because it was already installed and cba

Happy to see I'm in the top 250! Now I just need some constant WUs and I could be a lot higher. The only rough thing with my rig is ITX means I can't throw in a cheap second hand extra card. I don't have the budget or space to go for an upgrade either, not that it's worth it with the 3000 series around the corner. That said...Anyone know any good looking 2080 or Ti's that don't have extremely thick coolers? My Strix 2070 is the absolute thickest this case will let me go. Length isn't a huge issue, I can go around 300mm long.

Plex/Minecraft Server: Dell PowerEdge T320, Xeon E5-2470 v2, 48GB RAM, 19.25TB storage, RTX A2000 6GB

Snap packages are a recent software distribution system, kinda like a package manager.

The difference is that you download an image, like an appimage, that includes every dependancy it needs.

Good for production servers because you never have dependancy version problems, you can't accidentally break your system by installing the wrong thing, and makes life so much easier for the package maintainer.

I say bad for workstations or optimization because they're much slower to start up and take a lot more storage and memory. You might end up with multiple instances of the same version of something, all taking up space.

Like for example with atom text editor, even the electron version opens in like 3 seconds, but the snap often takes over 12 seconds to spin up and open.

Ubuntu started shipping internal system components as snap packages with 18.04, and that was enough for me, no thanks.

Depends what your priorities are

Decided to only utilize rx 5700 during the day and cpu/gpu at night when I can have a fan blowing on the open case. When I'm running a R5 1600af and with all 11 threads going, the room will heat up an additional 10 degrees. Also, I'm only pulling in maybe 50k additional pts using the CPU vs close to 1m with GPU. Probably not worth the electricity costs and annoyance of using a room that is 85 degrees F...

At one point yesterday both my CPU and GPU were folding COVID WUs, otherwise for me it's mostly been 11779 and my FAH web client refuses to load the description for that one. Mind you, my hardware is nothing significant.

Desided to try HFM.NET too.

But when adding local client (127.0.0.1) it shuts down. Any ideas?

strange i have had no issues with it crashing i do hae all the F@H clients set up to allow remote access via Password even the local on on my 5485 inspiron also make sure you save a config file in HFM then set it under preference to be opened my default.
