My compute bill for March is $68 so far. If you were to amortize a $10,000 folding rig and all of the associated costs, including power, I think I come out ahead. Of course I miss out on RGB lighting and hands-on building and tuning. Rent away though!

Its actually a lot less expensive the 10 1080tis would be ~1800 for a month. I might go for a week on a smaller setup idk... looking through the hosting offers i gotta see if Tesla T4's are supported. Could be fun to see what they can pull in terms of PPD

Yay! I made it to top 200. That's awesome.  Good job everyone involved! My fist time here and I enjoy it.

sheesh Ive been getting workloads non stop for the past 6h now for both gpu and cpu. Has the infrastructure finally caught up? If only my gpu hadnt been idling and waiting for WUs in the first 6-12 hours of the event for some stupid reason ; -;

LTT server came online, but its unlikely to be making that much of an impact yet

On that note i found a neat setting for folding on multi socket / multi numa node machinex <cpu-affinity v='true'> in the config file and i had one simulation running per numa node. Was around equal / slightly better than running a single one though i didnt run it for long because it was an older 1U server i had around and that thing is LOUD... besides it was only 100k ppd anyways

Nah its fine.

 

Its in a spare room so noise isn't a concern, so I've set the fan curves high. They are also underclocked and undervolted, my preliminary testing suggests that lower power states give the best power to performance.

I am finding difficulty getting WU, and even when I finish them I feel they don't count in my daily work, yesterday I finished 3 WU, yet the stats just show 1.

g4dn.xlarge instances have T4s and are 16 cents an hour right now. That's what I'm running.

Well I got myself top 1500 on day one but I need my PC back for gaming now, plus its heating my room up too much (it has the upstairs thermostat in it so messing up heating our rooms).

 

I will likely fade away from these giddy heights but it was nice while it lasted.
