LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Am I'm the only one who past 2-3 days just can't get any work units? The CPU is getting maybe 2-4 units in a day, but GPU isn't getting anything and restarting doesn't help.

What IP does it show as Work Server?

Do any of the HFM.NET users know what the "RunningNoFrameTimes" means?

Heyo, what does the "10 days active" requirement in the ltt folding even mean exactly? Because it sounds like the pc has to work for 240 hours in the 2 weeks, and seeing that I can't leave my pc to fold overnight (it's a jet engine), and the pc is literally direct line of sight and 1m away from my head... Also it's on the floor and my neighbors below me complained even if I game at midnight, hard to imagine what folding would do to them >_> Is the requirement 500,000 points OR 10 days, or do I have to do both? :( Because 500,000 points is easy, 10 days is kinda impossible, depending on what "active" means

Yeah, based on a current production rate of 2.1b its roughly 85 days, not accounting for their production rate.

It is 10 days with activity. It will count as active as long as you complete at least one work unit within the 24 hour period. You don't need to fold 24/7.

You need 500k points and 10 days with activity.

The delay for work units is a bit distressing and it is too bad they can't be prioritized on a LAN. My fastest machine sits idle, while the slowest machine gets a new WU 😞 If the WU were coming, production could exceed >4 million PPD.

You gaming they complain ? Either the walls and ceilings must be extremely thin; (2) your neighbours are fucking blood leeches or (3) you do have a jet engine as pc

I feel your pain... I have a machine that has both a GTX1050 and GTX1070 installed. The 1050 always seems to snag the work and I cry when I see the 1070 idle :P

I have an MSI Corsair 1080 Sea Hawk, trying to buy another card for (any excuse) the folding effort, and now I want an MSI Aero because it looks the same. It's not even a great card

For those with MSI RTX card (or other who dare) you can try "Dragon Center" I managed to push my RTX 2060 VENTUS to 1905Mhz, and my RTX 2080 SEAHAWK to 1950Mhz, just by setting profile to "Extreme Performance", its stable enough in the last 24 hours (20+ WU without fail)...

Oh, and I notice lately the WU size is getting bigger from just 12-14MB to 60-161MB

Just stick with seahawk, I change my fan to Noctua iPPC 3000rpm, and performance just amazing (and noisy)

I already written on the F@H Forum but got no response there.

I set up my old dual Xon Server for this with a Virtual CentOs Machine and installed the FaH Client.

But I got two problems with it I don't know how to resolve.

Just before, here is my /etc/fahclient/config.xml:

<config>
  <!-- Folding Slot Configuration -->
  <gpu v='false'/>

  <!-- Slot Control -->
  <power v='full'/>

  <!-- User Information -->
  <passkey v='XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'/>
  <team v='223518'/>
  <user v='atlas'/>

  <!-- Folding Slots -->
  <slot id='0' type='CPU'/>

  <allow>127.0.0.1 192.168.178.29</allow>
</config>

And btw, When I start the service, it says Fail, but I can see in the Log that it is indeed running.

1. I can't connect to my control on my main PC which is 192.168.178.29.
The firewall is disabled and I can see the open Port on netstat. I can also connect via telnet on the port.
I can add it into my Control, and when I'm not on it, it says Status = online.
But when I click on it to see what it's doing, it changes to "Updating" and I can't see anything.

Also, when I add <web-allow>127.0.0.1 192.168.178.29</web-allow> to my config, it won't start at all, no errors in the log, so I can't check what its doing from the web interface.

2. It seems to be folding hence the logs outputs these rows:

06:15:23:WU00:FS00:0xa7:Completed 490000 out of 500000 steps (98%)
06:16:38:WU00:FS00:0xa7:Completed 495000 out of 500000 steps (99%)
But I don't think the points are contributed to my account. When I look here https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/Atlas

I see that the Date of the Last WU isn't the same as on my machine (I temp. disabled my PC Folding to see this).

Also I think I would have more Points if it would actually count on that.

I'm sorry that I'm posting here with this problem, but I couldn't get any help on the correct forum and thought here might be a few experts.

In my experience (From running my own GPU OpenCL workloads as well as the bit of folding ive now been doing) a GPU tends to be able to maintain a higher OC during those loads than when running a game. A graphics workload seems to stress it in many more and thorough ways than the OpenCL or Cuda workload. Since 3DMark is so cheap on steam currently i just pushed my GPU as far as i could with it still getting through TimeSpy Extreme and their raytracing benchmark a couple of times without issue, dialed it back like 5 MHz and then put it to work folding

The seahawk and aero have the same shroud, which is my main reasoning.
And I can't find a second seahawk, I know the aero will be noisy but wanna get it cheap, use LM and just see how long it lasts.

I have a 14" Noctua iPPC 3Krpm on my CPU, and boy it's noisy under load, but also doesn't go above 60C

I could probably dial in +150 on the frequency offset instead of the 70 im at now and still be fine if the workload behaves anything like my own opencl workloads used to

Starting to lose track of all the work units that I've completed and uploaded but not been credited for in the past 2 days. The ones that are crossed out I have completed but haven't received credit for. Close to half of what I've completed. :|

The missing ones are being uploaded to the Collection Server instead of the Work Server which I believe is the reason they're not being credited.
