What are y'all upgrading this holiday season?

dizmo

Already bought myself a new PC so I'm thinking to upgrade the monitor since I've had it for like 8 years now.

I'm also going to add onto my current storage situation, I'll probably replace my ancient WD 1TB drive with another Seagate 2TB Drive then either add-on or swap my current Silicon Power SSD to for an M.2, or keep it and add the M.2 as specifically my boot drive.

Just burnt out another hub motor, moving on up to a 5000 watt hub motor rear, only problem is the rear drop out is much wider then a normal bicycle, so it will have to be a fat bike install. I will probably just buy the QS 275H motor or whatever the # is. Will be matched with a Kelly controller.

Why Intel? AMD is pretty much killing it for anything but the ultra high end.

You're right, at least as it stands now. I'm sure Intel with have something worthwhile with their upcoming 10th gen. The 9900ks is doing very well vs the 3900x right now so I can't wait to see what their 10nm chips are capable of.

So all the major sales are fast approaching. Cheap tech for all!

What are you guys upgrading?

I'm on an upgrade year, so mine are:

Current system -> 2600x/GTX1080

29" LG -> 27" 144hz 1440p

S8 -> OnePlus 7

And maaaaybe if I'm really feeling it, a 2014 Audi Q5...

I think I might upgrade too a core i7 9700k and a 2080 super

Heh. yea... More like 1080 full hd.

But at that point i probably just take the cheapest 144hz they have, just to get it over with. I am so done with looking at monitors.

I can't wait to get rid of my 7600k, but mostly because of the horrid MSI motherboard ?

Ehhh by then AMD will have their next chip out. Intel isn't used to playing catchup, I think it's going to take them a couple more years to really get back on top again.

Yeah, I scrapped my build upgrade ideas until the late spring. Right now it's looking like a 3700x/2080Super or Ti/49" monitor.

All depends what I get the best deals on.

It's ok, but it's not the greatest. Samsung has some Lite (S and Note series) phones coming out soon that might compete pretty well with it.

I get what you're saying but I doubt AMD will have another generation of desktop CPU's before Intel's Comet Lake.. Rumored to launch Q1 2020. But we'll see.

Again way too much. I dont think I have spent over $300 on a montior. For the price of what I paid for my Acer 16:9 montiors I could buy almost 7 of the Acer monitors.

Haha, yeah. I'm much more of the quality over quantity ethos, so I'll buy something nice once and have it last many years.

I asked for a new main monitor. Going from 1080p 60 to 1440p 75 w/ Freesync. I don't think my system can push 144Hz very well and the price jump was not worth it IMO.

Got my brother some case fans and an RGB strip for his new computer.

My area had disappointing black Friday deals and I can't really complain about my setup. If I upgrade anything I'd need to upgrade a whole lot of stuff with it (4770 and 980ti, so upgrading either one would be expensive and be held back by the other anyway). So I'm guessing just a power bank or three to deal with loadshedding

That's an F in the profile pic

I was really on the verge of booking a 30 day cruise, but since my twins aren't even 3 yet I will probably wait until they are 7 or 8 to do it.

So now I am probably going to buy a rv/motor home that is big enough for a family of 5 to comfortably do some serious traveling.

I am going to have to donate a lot of PTO this year since I can only carry over 7 days (think I get 40/yr atm). Then for about 6 months now I have been working a fri-sun schedule of about 12 hr days (salary ftw)  so burning PTO takes a good while.
