People dislike puns because they aren't clever enough to create puns themselves. I have far more fun finding people's accidental puns and asking, "Was that a pun?" than actually making them myself (although I'm guilty of that on occasion). The best puns are those that go right over people's heads until a minute or so later. The expressions they get when the penny finally drops are priceless.

what happens to me  lot is that non-techies will just use tech metaphors

Pretty much any joke attempted by a tech Youtuber. But not so much because of the jokes themselves, because of the reaction. The comments section is always filled with people losing their shit over the smallest piece of mild innuendo humour and people quoting it and claiming "I screamed" etc.

I really don't get it. Do these people genuinely lose their shit over this stuff whenever they hear it (like even in their in-person real life)? Are they going over the top because they are blinded by their love for their favourite Youtuber? Or are they just doing it hoping that they will get a reply/some interaction from the Youtuber?

Any autism joke.  I mean ANY autism joke.  They imply that autistic people are completely dysfunctional idiots, and that's not true.  "Autistic" usually means that someone has terrible social skills for developmental reasons, but actually has a brilliant mind otherwise.
