There was a law going around in my state (Florida) to make coding languages count as a foreign language in schools. Sadly, never went anywhere.

Oh my... THAT question...

So... I speak french, english, macedonian, serbian and bulgarian kind of fluently. Enough russian to understand and be able to answer. I do understand and read german (talking it is another story). I understand this forsaken patois that is luxembourgish, but it doesn't want to pass the border of my lips.

I have good notions of italian and I'm currently learning spanish (there is an eclipse I want to be able to see in person in a few years...)

Klingon is very useful. Half of the alpha quadrant speaks it. You can become an awesome space merchant if you have such skills.

Yep! It got shot down or simply forgotten as far as I know, which is a shame.

Speaking, I only know English. In terms of reading, I only know very few words in Spanish and Dutch.

Which is funny, because my mom and dad know some Spanish but don’t speak it and their parents knew and natively spoke Spanish.

I'm bilingual and speak fluent English and Slovak. I speak English much more than I do Slovak, so it's not as good as my English, but it's probably about average for someone my age. I also speak a bit of French (again, about average for someone my age who lives in a non-French part of Canada), and bits and pieces of Russian, Spanish, and German.

Quote me to see my reply!

Thank you for the offer.  My knowledge on the German language is really basic.  I can read a few simple sentences if I know what the words mean (the words I know are still a small amount though).

I really need to brush up on some basic French on the other hand.  Going to be in a region next year where the locals speak a dialect of French.  I'm looking forward to next year.  I always enjoy going outside the States to experience other cultures (along with the food).

If curious, these all the countries I been in so far:

Spoiler

Britain, Turkey, Iraq, and Kuwait.

Hoping someday to go visit Germany, Denmark, Canada, Japan, etc.

We are a few French around here, lurking in the shadows for poor innocents who want to try speaking the glorious language. ? There is a Discord, available too, maybe the Mods yould agree to create a # for those who want to speak a foreign language?

Where are you going, because regions like you described are not that much (Alsace, Brittany, North and Pays Basque). Some are nicer than others... ?

Welcome to India where you're considered illiterate if you don't know 3 languages (the 3rd one varies by location).

My languages are English, Hindi and Bengali. Also, learning some other foreign languages.
