Phil of Phil's Computer Lab is kind of my hero for the things he can do with old hardware and the deals he finds on it. modstek is also one of my favorite channels, as he's able to take an old junker of a system, clean it up, transform it completely and make a serviceable gaming PC out of it. Green Ham Gaming is one of my favorite channels, but he posts stuff pretty rarely at this point and I'm hoping he hasn't just lost interest.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

As far as tech goes, these are my personal favorites;

 

Timmy Joe pc tech, a growing Canadian tech YouTuber.

 

Bitwit/Paul's hardware, I mention them together because I like both of them and they host, "Awesome hardware," together.  

 

Jayztwocents, some call him the Nvidia shill but I don't mind it.  Borders on PC porn. 

 

Kristoferyee, more budget oriented builds as well as some midrange systems.

It’s just so hard for me to recommend JayzTwoCents, BitWit, MKBHD or even Linus Tech Tips. It’s all advertising disguised as informative reviews. And that’s practically unavoidable if you review consumer products. Because when you review something good, you end up recommending the product. And that has essentially the same purpose as advertising. The side effects of watching this type of content daily is the urge to buy stuff you absolutely don’t need. 

 

If you’re bored and kinda nerdy, I recommend RedLetterMedia. They review movies and make fun of Star Wars fans.

Jay did make a video in which he explained that he does not do sponsored reviews which is better than LTT. I think one of the most interesting you tubers to watch to see the transformation in is BitWit. Just look at this video he made two years ago:

That's, um...

The showcases and whatnot can get annoying, but I wouldn't equate reviews to advertising, because advertising is meant to get you to buy the product where reviews are meant to show you what's good and bad about it. And I consider LTT to be one of the more reliable and honest channels for that sort of stuff.
