Male Birth Control

Biggerisbetter

Recently, a study for male birth control was halted do to side effect concerns. I've pondered for years, what impact male birth control would have on society. Taking or bearing some of the responsibility in the decision to being another life into this world. First I will say, there will always be douche-bags whether male or female willing to trick others info conception. So lets not discuss these individuals, there will always be bad apples.

The male birth control study for the drug to be 96% effective with some side effects. Pushing closer for male birth control.

The question is how much of an affect will this have on birth rates?

Would you take birth control?

Would you tell the women you are having relations with , that you take these drugs.

Men should have more control of their reproductive organs. Men have very few options today.

Personally I've had a vasectomy and its the best 60 dollars ever spent, no more unwanted kids. No more surprise I'm pageant conversations when you fake it like it's good news.

Birthrates in 1st world countries would plummet. Marriages would also nose dive. Its a known fact that, the more a person makes equates to lower birth rates.

Test ideas by experiment and observation; build on those ideas that pass the test, reject the ones that fail; follow the evidence wherever it leads and question everything.

Well, I'd never take hormonal contraception neither would I ask my partner to take it. It really fucks with people.

I would never take it. I would never ask my wife to take it. There are better alternatives.

Condoms and diaphragms are examples of barrier birth control methods. Birth control pills are an example of a hormonal birth control method that prevents ovulation, in women.

Birth control methods can be broadly classified into barrier methods (that prevent sperm cells from reaching the egg), methods that prevent ovulation such as the birth control pill, and methods that allow fertilization of the egg but prevent implantation of the fertilized egg inside the uterus (womb) such as the IUD (intrauterine device).

You are 66% less likely of impregnating a three hole woman if you use unprotected sex.

Forgive me El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education...

I'll stick to condoms. Because they have the added benefit of protecting against other nasty things.

Taking that kind of birth control messes you up, my misses was on it for a while and she was just a utter mess for the year she had it, irritable, easily upset but as soon as she stopped them she started returning to normal.

Just stick to condoms and be safe about it and if you still get a girl pregnant sue the company for defective condoms and live off the compensation :D

The opposite can be true too. I know women who use birth control specifically to regulate their hormones

You'll probably be better with a condom. Not only it can prevent unwanted pregnancies, it can protect you from sexually transmitted diseases. Besides, if a man is having premature ejaculations, a condom can help since it reduces the sensation, allowing him to last longer.

True, there are opposites to all factors, but if you're just trying to not get pregnant (you're not trying to regulate hormones or stop your period) then its not the best option you can take

I know "Big Pharma" conspiracies are really popular these days, but seriously, we don't just take Pharma's word for it. There are a lot of regulations, tests, trials, etc, that need to be completed and verified before something like this would be legalized and allowed into the general public.

Of course they'll say it's safe. But they need to prove it too. Sure, there are examples of dangerous things slipping through the system, but that's the exception, not the rule. And that happens in every industry, in every part of life.

I've known MANY young women who do this. Especially young women who are collegiate athletes.

Running or working out as long as we did in college apparently really messes with their cycle. (At least that's what my girlfriends in college told me.) Birth control helps regulate that.

So while some people may vilify hormonal birth control, it really helps a lot of people.

As for the topic at hand, I'd certainly try it, but I've never had a problem with... other methods as well. Last time I looked up the subject it involved a device implanted in the penis and I said "Oh hell no you're not sticking something up there."

The truth is that, like most medication, there are trade offs and risks.

Hormonal birth control is very effective, and incredibly safe. There ARE risks of side effects, but most of those are very small risks. You, as a potential user, simply need to look at the science and the information, and make an informed judgement based on benefit vs risk. If the benefit is high, and the risk is low? It's probably fine. If the risk is high? Maybe not.

Your average woman is going to have low risks, and high benefits, but that's not exclusively the case.

Yep, can help with severe period pain too.

I hope they can get this to work, it would be great to have an extra option, and if both partners can take contraception there is far less chance of pregnancy. Condoms have their place from a STD point of view, but lets be honest they're not very comfortable, they kill a lot of sensation and if your getting a lot of action, they can get expensive.

No contraception is 100% reliable (Though hormonal IUD's come fucking damn close to being perfectly reliable) - so having  both parties on contraception (whether barrier, like a condom, or hormonal) is ideal.

Being gay is the best kind of birth control ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Tbh, birth control wouldn't be such a... discussed issue(?) if couples, well, thought about what they were going to do... Although the issues of condoms breaking still persists, and rape... *sigh* :C The world is such a confusing place.

It would be so much simpler if people were taught to take responsibility for their actions rather than relying on medical bails to fix their fuck-ups. In my opinion, when you have sex with a person it should be because 1) you love them and 2) you are prepared to the eventuality of conception. If these two criteria are satisfied there cannot be a situation where you get a son you weren't ready for or your partner bails. Unfortunately we live in a society where sex is considered a recreational act, something you do with the same nonchalance as you would watch a movie or play tennis. If a person gets "tricked" into conception by a stranger all I can say is they pretty much asked for it, and it shouldn't be the baby who has to pay the consequences.

So no, I don't feel the need for this or any other sort of "birth control" drug, be it for me or for my partner. I wouldn't want a relationship with someone who takes this sort of thing so lightly.

You never took an aspirin? What about a cup of coffee or a glass of wine?
