is Antec Earthwatts 650ea green much better than a seasonic s12ii ?

I found a second hand s12ii with the store and receipt warranty intact. The Antec, has a 1 week replacement warranty since it is a refurbished that was sold here i. philippines. I think it was from another country.

Yes, but I wouldn't get either. What are you powering? Chances are a 400W supply will be overkill (though PSUs with lower wattages than that tend to be a little shit).

I have a system ready to be built with a Corsair TX650M 80+Gold, but also a RM850 that I have used to power this system for some years already. Would the TX650M be enough to power a system with a MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X, and an overclocked 8700K, @5.0Ghz/Adaptive 1.32V
I should probably add that this is with an AVX offset of 0, as I understand that uses more power?

Thanks.

650 would be enough. I run a 8700K @ 4.7GhZ and a Vega 64 with a CX450M.

Thanks. It was mostly a question of curiosity and laziness as the TX PSU was already in a case I wanted to transplant the build to, but I believe the RM850 is a little overkill and might be too big for the Fractal Design Define C. No idea how I got a triple post, would love if mods could remove the two irrelevant posts of mine.

That is your oppionion...

But seatbelts aren't a problem in 99,9% of cases either.

Or Breakers. They are rarely used.

But they are there. Because they are to protect things in case something went wrong. Same with PSU and Protection.

You do not need it for "normal operation", you need it for abnormal operation...

There is a reason why there are rules to have an RCD in your breaker box for certain areas (like the Bath). There's a reason for all that...

really good analogy

if there's a resistive short circuit it would be a problem for example isn't it?

Well, its not (just) PSU becoming a welder, its PSU destroying HW becuase voltage drops, ripple goes through the roof.

Or it just dies. So you do something wrong and the PSU dead. NOT desirable...

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying that I think the G3 hate train is a little overdone. If you have a UPS, etc and have enough PSU wattage you'll be fine

It's still loud and it still lacks multi rail 12V. Unless it's on a really good sale, I'd still recommend others over it.

If they had tuned the protections and fan curve properly, and had given it multi rail, it would be a no-brainer.

Again. I'm not disagreeing with you (except about multirail, but that's a discussion for another time). I wouldn't recommend it but you don't need to replace it if you already have one

Maybe but compare it with other units in that price range.

Right now EVGA G3-550W is 90,47€

Like (550W):

Be quiet Straight Power 11 -> 90,84

Bitfenix Whisper M -> 89,84

Cooler Master V550: 82,99€

Corsair RMx -> 85,85

Cougar GX-F -> 76,74

Xilence Performance X -> 56.30€ (NOT MODULAR!)

With those examples, wich one would you buy and why the G3??
See that is the Problem...

It doesn't just have some possible Problem with Protections, the competition is very strong and offers things the G3 does not offer. Like Multi Rail, high quality fans with low RPM or cheaper. Compatibility to Corsair Type 4 (Cougar GX-F and Whisper M)...

And even the Super Flower Leadex brings something to the table: LED universal 9 pin connections.

Wich means that you can use either of the 7 connections the 550W Leadex comes with as either CPU, GPU or Drive Connection...

Not sure where the prices are from but in USA be quiet and coolmaster PSUs are 100+$ US and the rest are like 80$  including evga. I don't really care where the PSU falls on a tier list but the prices you cited are only relevant to you locally.  The EVGA is the same price or cheaper than all of those units in the US.

I'm using EVGA B2 750W and just got an MSI 1070 Ti card. And it's got a slight coil whine. Do you guys think changing my PSU would solve that? I mean B2 seems like a good PSU, but do you guys think it's worth a shot?

I don't want to be throwing 80$ out of the window just to find out it didn't solve anything. Especially since I've been more than satisfied with my PSU so far.

The B2 is fine, the card is likely the source of the whine anyway

I'm using EVGA B2 750W and just got an MSI 1070 Ti card. And it's got a slight coil whine. Do you guys think changing my PSU would solve that?

 If PSU has coil whine: Yes, it is possible.

If GPU has coil whine: No as the PSU doesn't have the whine. It can change it a bit but if Coil Whine is present, Coil Whine is always present, regardless of the PSU.
