I have never fired a Sig rifle, but I own 5 of their handguns. I build all my own AR's, 2 of which are built to clone spec, 2 are just great cheap plinkers, and 1 is a 7.62x39 AR.

I make all my own ammo with exception of .22lr that my kid shoots.

I also have a few Savage bolt guns, love those tack drivers. The best part about Savages is the price, best bang for the buck unless your doing matches.

Finally got a chance to shoot my .22 today.  Fires okay, though I did have one FTE where the casing got jammed into the ejection port (it was simple to clear, however).  Unfortunately, the gun kept spitting hot fragments of something or other onto my hand intermittently.  I'm not sure if it's the gun or the Remington Thunderbolt ammo I was using.  Talking to the range guy, he was pretty sure it was the ammo.

 

I'll need to get some different ammo for next time (or start wearing gloves while shooting).

Remington Thunderbolt isn't that great. Though to be fair, most bulk .22 LR at the cheaper end will have 1-2 rounds fail to fire.

They're like $300 max here.

 

Hell, I can get HK 416 .22 at my local gun store for $400, and the M&P 15-22 is like $420.

I was referring to pistols, not rifles.  Ironically though, the same company I bought this from is now listing 1911 style .22's (some company called American Tactical Imports) for $259 on their website.  I definitely did not see them in store on Saturday.

Damn.  I recently got a GSG from my uncle for free.  It was a late bday present.  But we can get those here, along with Ruger SR-22s for sub $400.  The GSG usually goes for sub $300.  

Still, not a bad little pistol you ended up grabbing.

Those aren’t totally stupid though. Both of those would make cool range toys and the rifle would make a decent survival rifle.

So I'm looking at new pistols again.  Another compact or sub compact pistol.

Kinda wanna phase out my SCCY CPX-2.  I'd probably make that a truck gun.  

Personally, I love how small and thin sub compact 9 and .380s are.  I also don't mind some single stack compact 9 and .380s either.

 

So here's what I'm looking at so far:

• Smith & Wesson M&P 380 Shield.  
• Glock G43X
• G43
• G42

I'll be honest.  The 43X, 43, and M&P 380 feel the best in the hand.  I already have a subcompact .380 with my LCP... so I'm looking more at these compact handguns.

The M&P feels the absolute best in the hand, I like the grip safety.  

The G43 and G43X also feel good in the hand.  Both are single stack 9mms, but the X has a bigger grip.  That's the major downside to the M&P and G43X for me.  Bigger grip will be harder to conceal.  Now that I've lost a bunch of weight, I think I'd be able to conceal either or... 

 

The price difference is also pretty massive.  I think it's $150 price difference between the M&P and the cheapest Glock that I have picked out.

What about mounting your Glock on a carbine?

How about a folding Glock?

Better yet, let's turn the Glock into an LTL.  Because when I shoot my pistol at a bad guy, I want to hit something right out of the barrel that may or may not affect the trajectory and could prevent the bullet from doing its job.

Unfortunately, the city laws here actually prohibit us from leaving any gun in our vehicles for more than 24 hours.  Of course, there's virtually no way to enforce that unless it's left out where someone can see.  I've thought about getting just a mount where I could stick my carry gun while driving.  The choice is whether I want to do a universal option (and switch between holster shells) or do it for a specific carry gun.

That one is actually cool and probably a better method to carry a Glock than a standard Glock: You can’t accidentally shoot someone because you pulled the trigger picking it up or drawing it.

I forgot one pistol to add to the list, the Glock G48.  Essentially a G43X with a longer slide.  Slides are interchangeable too.
