Just ordered two more ADM UIC lowers. Silencershop went OOS on YHM Turbos before I could snag one, so I'll have to wait for those to turn up again before I can start that wait.

By locks in I assume you mean the type that have a little flat spring in the tube to hold the cleaning rod?  Yours could be missing, bent or broken.

This is what is weird, it clicks in. When I yank on it, it is locked in. When firing, it starts sliding out.

Like I know everyone knows about the YC9 at this point, but tbh, it's the first time since my C308 (which the G3 was my dream gun growing up, so I'm not counting it) that I've genuinely been hyped for a new gun this much.

 

I want a Hi Point YC9 so bad.  I already don't mind Hi Points (hell, I own a carbine and I learned how to shoot pistols on a CF380).  But this one looks pretty good as far as Hi Points are concerned.  Iirc, I remember Hi Point said they'll do a limited run of the new pistol where it's engraved with "Yeet Cannon 9" as opposed to just "YC9".  That's the model I want.  I know the slide is still Zamak 3, but if Hi Point can still reduce overall weight with the redesign.. I might daily carry it.  (Assuming it holds the same reliability I've had with every other Hi Point I've fired)

 

But they're aiming for the same $200 MSRP (which means it'll probably sell under that).  
You used to already got a reliable pistol for $150 to $200 depending on where you bought it at.  Hi Point really only had to worry about Jimenez Arms, and maybe SCCY if you want to push the price up to $250ish.  
But really, Jimenez?  If all you had was $200, couldn't save up any more, you needed a gun and some ammo to defend yourself.  The C9 or CF380 were perfect.

 

Now for the same MSRP, you're getting what a lot of people consider higher end features.

  • Double stack mag (not really a high end feature, but I'm glad it's here)
  • Option to mount optics.  Yeah, you can put a red dot on your Hi Point.
  • Not just a thumb safety, but a grip safety also.  (As seen on the M&P EZ)
  • Interchangeable backstrap
  • threaded barrel
  • Picatinny rail for laser/light mounting.

I'm a big fan of budget stuff.  These features, (again, assuming they hit their target MSRP and even if eventually, sell under that like current Hi Points) gives a lot of people room to get into the shooting culture.  Even if just shooting as a hobby/sport.  

Like, yeah, laser and lights can get expensive, same with optics for pistols.  Even suppressors.  But starting off with a cheaper gun makes those extra features a pill that is a lot easier to swallow.

If you only have $200 there is a long list of Walther PP/K and Makarov derivatives from East Europe that are better options. Hell I would carry a TT before one of them.

 

You could mount a red dot to a Hi point before haven't you seen this video.

My new lowers will be at my FFL on Wednesday. I'll file an F1 on one of them virtually immediately. 

 

Now I also see that YHM Turbos are back in stock at SilencerShop, so this might end up being a heavily taxed (bribe) month for me.

So bought this at a yard sale from someone I used to work with.  Came with a plastic bag full of parts and he said all the parts are in there and it should still work.  So I took a gamble

Here it all cleaned up and reassembled.  Fully functional 20 gauge Winchester 1300 for $25.  I’m glad I took the gamble.

It has a 3" chamber.  I'll probably just pick up some cheap 2 3/4" target loads to test it out.

They can still be fun to shoot.  I haven't used it in a long while now, but I still own a little Henry .22 bolt action single shot rifle (was my first gun purchase and all I could afford at the time).  I should probably pull it out and clean it up, now that I think about it.

Just picked up my new lowers!

 

A pair of American Defense Manufacturing UIC lowers:

How is the Dererttech MDR panning out in 2019?  Don't keep up with guns but seemed pretty cool, and i always find myself rooting for new bullpups since it always seems as there hasn't been a good one since the AUG

YES!  I finally managed to get my order in for the EP9 pistol carbine.   Every single time I checked, they listed as out of stock (including earlier this afternoon).  I happened to check a few minutes ago, and they were finally available again.  I already paid and contacted the gun store about uploading their FFL license, so now I'm just waiting for it to ship.

As somebody who plays BF games and watches gun jesus rather then lives in texas and has 30k$ a year burning a hole in my pocket to buy guns, let alone owns anything outside of practice rifles; never heard of RFB, KSG is a shotgun?, The Tavor is cool, but the more the merrier.  You could of added the Groza it wasn't the point, its not new. 

I'm mostly interested in bullpup as a short dimension high power, 5.56 MDR could interest me less, the 308 interests me but maybe its not worth caring about(?).  On kinda similar note 5.56 micro-tavor is p-cool relatively, small package with decent accuracy and relatively high power but i don't see practical case for it in the wild, more of a thing that is interesting so far as spec-ops and or body guards etc, which i am neither or never will be.

Was just wondering if the MDR worked out of it its destined to be forgotten.

Yeah, MSRP on the MDR is $2270. Actual price is close to MSRP.

MSRP on the RFB, Keltec's ambi .308 of similiar (if not better) reliability is $1930 but is consistantly found at the $1400 mark. Cheaper Than Dirt sells them for $1050 for the 24" version and $1300 for the 18" version.

 

And if you're after 5.56, the RDB is a $1270 MSRP and can be found sub $1000. CTD has them for as low as $800. And Keltec is very accommodating with warranty work if you get a first gen. Only issue is accuracy with the factory handguard.
