ok, we had a rainstorm today, followed by some sun. Took the Macro lens out for a real trial. I should have brought the tripod, but I was losing the evening sun (6PM when I shot this) so I braced as I could.

ISO cranked to 400, so noise is visible. Supposed to rain again this weekend, will try hopefully with better light

That is so my type! Absolutely love close up photos. Just take a 10.

Went hiking today with the family, and finally had time for some long exposure pics. Used a Sony a6000 with kit lens. Can't remember the details. Not sure if its the best of the day, but it's up there.

Hopefully anything I say is factually correct. Sorry for any mistakes in advanced.

Ah yes, the cotton waterfalls, always a crowd pleaser.

On the opposite end of that, freeze frame (so to speak)

Taken with my old Pentax K100D Super, but the rest of the specs are lost to the mists of time.

That's tack sharp, great work. I love winter shots like this one, but the mixture of liquid and frozen water in the same frame is pretty dang cool.

This is one of the first pan shots I ever nailed, I'm a proud dad on this one. EOS 6D, 24-105 F/4L IS. 105mm, F22, 1/10 ISO 50.

I've done a number of races/autocrosses, and never been happy with the results. You did very nice there. I assume you were shooting through a chain link fence?

Continuing the trend (for me anyway) of digging through old shots, this came from a Canon 10D and a (IIRC) 35-80mm kit lens.

Didn't have the body/lens combo for very long, as I only have 1 folder of 4 pics, so there you have it. I used to have a 10D that had been converted to IR, still kicking myself for selling it.

Yeah unfortunately had a fence between me and the cars, but at 105 it's not too obnoxious.

That shot is a great composition, provides a good contrast between subject and background, I always have trouble doing that when photographing nature. That said, I too dug through my old shots and found this guy from the top of a volcano. I remember this little guy being about the size of a baseball, but it sure doesn't look it. Makes me want to get a proper macro lens. Rebel T5, EF-S 24mm F/2.8. 1/800, iso 100 f/2.8

EF-S

I use an old/ancient 1D Mark II N, which doesn't accept EF-S lenses (one of the reasons I went with Nikon originally, they never felt the need to change lens mounts on a regular basis) which eliminates a lot of interesting choices, in favour of the more expensive ones, and it can make shopping on eBay a trick, as not everyone labels their lenses properly.

The actual plant itself is very pretty, at least I assume it's a plant. What I know about plants would fill a thimble that's already 3/4 full of water.

Was it windy that day when you took the shot? The green plant to the right of the central one, is out of focus in a very weird way.

Yeah.. I was really disappointed when I got my 6D and realized it wasn't compatible with EF and EF-S because of the full frame mount. It's annoying, especially when shopping used. I've noticed Canon lenses tend to be more expensive than their Nikon counterparts, especially the full frame lenses.

Ty, pretty sure it's a plant, I think you have about 3 times the amount of plant knowledge as me if we're measuring by the thimble. I can't remember if it was windy, it was like three or four years ago, but it was waay up on the top of a volcano so I'd imagine there was at least some breeze. I always noticed the AF system on the T5 never played too nice with that 24mm, especially wide open. The focal plane at that aperture is so narrow, the AF system didn't know what to do half the time, that might be part of the problem with the focus.

I don't have wide lens, so I decided to try take some exposure bracketing and panorama when I was on my work location. It was my 1st try of doing photo merge, so nothing to expect, it was just a tryout of the technique and to see how it end up, but I try..

It consists of 36 shots.

What surprised me was how hard it took my PC memory usage when doing it in LR. 97% of 16 GB physical memory load is alot. Never expect to be a heavy load like this..

We all have that one lens we put on by default, even if it's not the best one in the armoury.

its not a bad lens just for video and night shots its slow and doesn't have a fixed aperture

On occasion in times past, I had a large collection of expired film of questionable origin. I shot a bunch and sometimes you get good results (okay, rarely, but that's half the fun) and sometimes you get crap.

Here is one that turned out well.

Nikon f3HP, 50mm lens at probably f/11, ISO400 (from film), and Kodak BW400cn, expiry date unknown (I don't recall but it was some time ago)

Nicely done. The single light source gives an ominous air to it.

As way of comparison, some of my adventures with expired film....didn't turn out so good:

This was taken with my Nikon F5, 50mm f/1.8 (probably around 2.8) and some expired film from India (fujicolour IIRC) that had been found in a damp basement of an abandoned house.
