OnePlus has officially announced the OnePlus 8T. The...phone features new 65W fast-charging tech and a 120Hz display. OnePlus also announced a...$45.99 (£55) pair of true wireless earbuds called the OnePlus Buds Z. There are two...models of the OnePlus 8T: ...8GB of RAM and 128GB... and ...12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In the US, you only get the higher spec model. The OnePlus 8T comes with...Warp Charge 65 technology. The 65W charging tech is able to charge the 4,500mAh battery inside the OnePlus 8T to almost 58 percent in just 15 minutes, with a full charge completing in 39 minutes. The OnePlus 8T is powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor, and...support for sub-6GHz 5G but no mmWave. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor and ships with OnePlus’ Android 11. The 8T comes with...: a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 16-megapixel ultrawide with a 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor to help with black-and-white photographs. The phone has a 16-megapixel camera in a hole-punch selfie cutout.

My thoughts

I'm glad to see OnePlus is still in the game. $750 is a pretty good price. It's no Nord pricing but it's still highly competitive. Additionally, with using multiple batteries to speed up fast charging seems like a pretty interesting move, I wonder if other manufacturers are going to follow suit.

Sad to see there's nothing truly stand out, and I really wonder how long OnePlus will be able to continue punching upwards with their camera quality. Granted, it's not bad, but it's far from impressive. It's got a lot to compete with, like the S20 FE which is ~$150 less and better in almost every way.

I wish they'd put some more work into their headphone offerings too. Make a proper pair OnePlus, you're rapidly approaching the "we have a decent name now, so we'll just put out trash and if it's cheap people will probably buy it" territory.

Likely won't affect it too greatly. Charging tech has come a long way over the past few years.

not competitive anymore

It most certainly is. They're just not pricing it at a point where they barely make any money on the devices they sell.

Snapchats version of Memoji (though Bitmoji was first). You basically make an avatar for yourself using preset assets, kinda like a Mii.

Yeah, I'm waiting for an underscreen front facing camera phone. My OnePlus 7 Pro screen is amazing & I refuse to get a screen with a hole punch or notch. I want something that feels like an upgrade and not a regression. Don't know why they game up the OnePlus 7 Pro pop-up design...

Also since we're all stuck at home what's the point of upgrading. I always upgrade right before a trip so I have a brand new phone & battery and not have to stress as much about finding an outlet.

i wish they wouldve partnered with primarily snap instead of bitmoji because the android experience with snapchat is horrible, so if they got the experience to be almost the same as iphone by working with them, that would be a big pro for a lot of people

Interesting how it is priced $50 less than the iPhone 12. But I think that they haven't price it against the iPhone 12 as 8T is in the middle of the 8 and the 8 Pro pricing wise.

Probably OP 9. If ZTE can do it then Oppo could do the same.

Man did Oneplus just give up and die as soon as Carl Pei left, technically before? No Nord in NA, now this non-refresh. They charge Samsung pricing. Go away Oneplus.

Releasing this phone a day after Apple didn't do OnePlus any favors. Like the iPhone 12 hype is real and if it wasn't for a few uploads in my sub-box I would have no clue that both the Pixel 5 and OnePlus 8T came out today.

Well that was underwhelming.

Seems like it is competing with the Galaxy S20 FE but isn't better in any way, and has a slightly higher price.

The earphones might be nice though. The price is at the very least nice. Just remains to see how they sound.

Maybe will finally move from my V10. can't believe 5 years have already passed.

If i can get a good DAP, it might make the transition less painful

If I had to guess I would say it would probably render the battery useless after 2 years.
