That's not what I was complaining about. I was complaining about the lack of information regarding the actual product in the title of the video.

Still not really clickbait since the actual item is shown in the videos thumbnail. I'd like more information about the unit at the very least in the description, including the fact that they can't be found anywhere (at least in Canada)

Was actually super useful to my line of work, I'd really like to know what 4 port USB card he used that ended up cleaning up the data. We've had similar issues with tracking data dropping off for no apparent reason.

Okay VR engineers, what does it take to have a full body tracked system these days? Still Hollywood exclusive tech?

Same. Been looking for an add-in card just as he described for a while. Would love to know what which one he used :,c

That's why I wont adopt VR now.. this kind of sh1t is what I am expecting/willing to deal with a 100-300 usd setup (while this being a new technology supposedly otherwise its ridiculous even for that money) 

 

not for 500 to 2000 dollar setup.... that's just unacceptable junk as most of the games available for vr... I am not sure why its not dead yet.

Something along these lines is what he likely used, don't expect them to be cheap however.

 

There are cheaper ones with 7 or so usb ports with 2 controllers but you would have to map/test to find the separate ports.

We use the rokoko smart suit, as we had beta units we got them for about £1000 but they're about £2500 now annoyingly. Still extremely cheap compared to the movie setups though, and still cheaper than xsens. For consumers, getting a bunch of Vive trackers at key points around the body is still probably the cheapest option, but with added faff, charging and bandwith as demonstrated in the video.

You might want to add a description for omotea's vide/channel. That lonely, nondescript youtube link doesnt look that good between all those named referral and purchase and merch  links😜

 

Next thing will hopefully be Linus' very own anime avatar and a collab with omotea.

That was a pretty cool behind the scenes video for those vr avatar setups. Neat.

I'm surprised Linus didn't try having more USB controllers earlier on as over 3 years ago with the WAN Show Repair Vlog, he mentioned using separate USB cards to fix issues with the capture cards connected for the WAN show setup.

I asked on Linus' Anno stream which USB card it was.
He said it was a Sonnet Allegro Pro, and that it was discontinued - I assume that's why he didn't talk about it originally.

And yeah, that thing is even more expensive than the Startech ones. Looks nice though, and obviously performs better than his onboard USB.

I come to wan show for entertainment,  I come to LTT vids for tech education.   This video seems to have left a huge cliff hanger of questions at the end of the video.  Its a solid miss guys, The first 90% feels like you guys got plenty of time in editing the video, and then BAMN the video ends with a 20 sec blurb about USB channels and a 10 sec clip of him standing there?!?!   It was a real disappointment! It could have been a much better educational video on how to solve this issue and why it exists.

 

I think this issue needs some serious tech discussion on say a wan show or something.  Something to explain why those items have issues without dedicated USB controllers.  Why you think this is the case and what do we need to make this work?  Do we NEED 2 more light houses?  Do we NEED each dongle on its own USB controller?  so many questions and no real answers. 

 

I expect more from the largest tech channel on Youtube.

You might interested in trying out Valve Index Controllers with the Oculus Quest; the process is also compatible with the LIV App. To do this, you will need OpenVR Space Calibrator:

Make sure to set activateMultipleDrivers to "true" (without quotes) in the SteamVR config file, or the setup will not work.

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

 

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
