If You Could Upgrade ONLY ONE Part In Your PC, What Would You Buy?

Syaoran

I thought I would make a fun thread discussing what you would upgrade in your PC regardless of the price.

I think I would upgrade my RAM to Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200

My 2nd choice would be upgrading my CPU to Ryzen 2600

I got an RTX 2070 S recently so that's my answer. I always budget to upgrade my CPU, AIO, Motherboard, and RAM at the same time. SSD's and HDD's as needed, PSU as needed, and I'm keeping my Corsair Air 540 because it's excellent.

Replace my 580 with a 5700XT.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

I can.

But I don't have need to. The 1080 is still going strong.

You said 580 in your first post. Which is it? ?

that's a tough one, I want to upgrade my storage so I don't have to store all my games on my external hdds(which are about half the speed of my internal hdd) but I don't trust the psu in my pc to handle more than what it currently is handling

My system is the Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Microsoft Signature Edition

I wish I could only upgrade one part, but next time I upgrade my RAM, CPU, etc, and add SAS cards for more storage, I'll need a new motherboard.  (Currently have 32GB RAM and an i7-4790K in an ASRock Z97 Extreme6, and for all the storage, etc I'd like to put in, it doesn't have enough PCIe lanes and I really don't want to go HEDT if I don't have to.)

This is actually one thing I can’t do.

I built my rig a year ago and balanced it so well I can only really build a whole new PC or at least change monitor and GPU together to go 144hz 1440p which is possible.

I COULD have done with getting a more powerful PSU than 550W but my system can handle any reasonable GPU out there without any overclocks as the rest of my system draws little so I have plenty of GPU headroom. So I didn’t need to, it would only be to meet the recommended minimum PSU stated against GPUs which doesn’t really apply to me as I don’t have an i7 9900k OCed to 5Jhz.

My CPU draws 80-120 at most as its not OCable.

i5 8600 - RX580 - Fractal Nano S - 1080p 144Hz

I need more storage and I'm torn between upgrading to a larger SSD or HDD. Both are more than 50% full. It's tough that a lot of write to the C drive by default so my SSD is full of a lot of junk.

GPU because, although it has plenty of power, being a GCN 1.0 card Linux support is ass so games either run super slow or my computer crashes (especially with games running under Proton).
