Juviegar reacted to LinusTech in August 17 2018 - WAN Show Document
Everyone pulls this crap and we are just getting tired of it. Another coMpany in the last month basically threateneD to withhold our review sample of their latest high profile product if we didn't fly to Italy for a briefing.
Got better things to do with my time...

Juviegar reacted to SquintyG33Rs in Can a RAM slot be repaired?
i don't work in that kind of field but it's going to be over 100$ because the soldering for it is hard and it's not sure where the damage is. either socket or slot side, replacement parts aren't something they'd keep in stock, it's not an iphone so they'd have to go find that too
keep in mind it might be your CPU that has an issue with detecting one of the channels (though unlikely)

I mean, you're realistically fine to keep your PSU but when you get a new GPU or CPU it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Please tell us your build so we can carefully recommend what's best for your system.
There's no use telling people to get 800W of SuperFlower Leadex Gold for a pentium/rx 460 build.

Juviegar reacted to STRMfrmXMN in PSU Tier List [OLD]
Credit to @Starelementpokeand @Energycore for helping out with this long-awaited refresh of the old PSU tier list by Aniallation (who previously went several months without logging in), leaving the old list in need of help. This is simply an update of the list that was flawed in creation by the PCMR subreddit and in dire need of a refresh.
This list is subject to change as new PSUs come out on a regular basis and standards may change or issues with units on the list may develop. A list of PSUs awaiting a tier on this list is at the bottom.

Juviegar reacted to Electronics Wizardy in Cheap case + cheap power supply
Not too good to be true, its crap.
a good 600w psu is much better than a cheap 600w psu.
Those cheap 600w psu's are often only able to ouput ~300w and then go boom

Juviegar reacted to 1_thing in Maths problem that I shouldn't be having so much difficulty with
You were like 1 or 2 steps off, I always used to forget this. move every factor with D onto the same side on their own so you have
3DU-3DK=....
factorise that side to
D(3U-3K)=...
then divide it all by that factor so you are left with B. this is what I beleive it is
D=-P+UY-KY/3U-3K
thing
-
Juviegar reacted to SpaceGhostC2C in Maths problem that I shouldn't be having so much difficulty with
You only have D left on the left hand side, multiplying two terms. Combine them, so D multiplies a difference (3U-3K). Move anything adding or subtracting to the right hand side with proper signs, then divide by (3U-3K).
You can also resume from your 3rd step: instead of distributing everything, you can go for
3D-Y = -P/(U-K)
D = -P + Y
3(U-K) 3
With that in mind, I advice you to use my first paragraph to continue from your 4th line, and try to get to D = -P/3(U-K)+Y/3 from there as practice.

I love how the OP posted on the wrong subforum but got answered anyway.
For me I'd recommend RX 470 or GTX 1050Ti if you're on a budget, the latest generation generally is more power efficient and more powerful.

Juviegar reacted to comicsansms in PSU Tier List [OLD]
I have a used 10 year old Antec Earthwatts EA 380 (which same platform is used in the older S12II white models) and I don't think I am going to upgrade anytime soon, and if I was I would have to gift it to my incompetent friend who just wasted $65 on shit.
A 5 year old Seasonic S12II B is perfectly fine and I would highly recommended.

any info on the E7 from be-quiet ? , I got an E7 450 powering my "bin bin" and even under full load it does not show any signs of being stressed (R9 290 + i7 2600 in furmark and aida)
(after 2 hours in a case its not even warm , exausts almost cold air and the thermalcouple I have on it shows 37c on the hottest spot I could find)
