HP has accidentally leaked their upcoming Envy x360 laptop based on the AMD Ryzen apu and VEGA M graphics. The apu is a Ryzen 5 2500U with a stock clock of 2GHz, and burst clock of 3.6GHz. 8GB of DDR4, 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD, and VEGA M graphics. The design is the same as their current AMD FX and Intel models, with USB 3.1 Gen 1 type A, a type C with USB port, combo mic/headphone jack and a HDMI 2.0a port. Comes in Dark Ash/Silver. No pricing yet or release date, but hopefully soon.

How crazy would I be if I wished that laptops with APUs were upgrade-able?  Can't find an MXM laptop worth a damn to save my life, but I somehow think the ability to swap out APUs would have much better shot at panning out for JQ public.

With a 45w envelope already in place, think I'd be hard pressed to find mobile processors that'd breach that.

Nice to see team red with mobile offerings, still need to see the performance and price naturally.  But the feature set looks good to me so far.

I seriously hope that U doesn't stand for what I think it does. Sadly I feel it does.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

The 45w adapter indicates the VEGA M graphics is built in? The Nvidia one runs on a 90w adapter while the onboard Intel uses a 45w one.

Ryzen? Not yet, but Bristol Ridge are out and they have been updated to use AM4.

But Bristol Ridge is irrelevant because the integrated graphics on them are Radeon R5 and R7, not anywhere near Vega

neat, hope we can see AMD crawl back some market here, the Ryzen APUs are potentially super interesting becuase Vega seems to shine its brightest while running slower because of how power efficient it seems to become

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Hoping these U series chips from AMD have SMT enabled, that would be insane.

I cant see a reason why you cant reach that kind of effiency with a standard ryzen CPU at those clocks so it's going to be interesting. The vega portion tho is a different deal altogether.

Great.

Apart from the single channel memory. They need to change that before launch.
