Would the power supply suffer

Thefpsshooter

my specs

i3 6100

gtx 750 ti

16gb ram ddr4

1 ssd

1 hard drive

500w cheap psu

I am getting this psu https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00A0HZMEM?ref_=pfb_7213b0jemg68dl8bnf689dad5gh1&tag=soadca-20&ascsubtag=pfb-P01-V01-O3-T1-EVAL-TBJQLT since my system does not need alot of power to work will the psu suffer because of one part being in sleep mode or just not working ( I am buying it used from a friend...)

The power supply will suffer in efficiency maybe, but nothing else.

ax 760 is a very good psu. should have no problem if used but do some test beforehand

Yeah, submitted it a little early, just typing out how that wasnt cheap and its super overkill for what his build is.

He's getting it used so we have to factor that in.

No, a PSU has an efficiency graph. Most of them get to 90%+ efficiency around 50-60% load. Using it up to it's full 760w wouldn't kill it immediately, but could shorten its life.

Look at EVGA, probably get a good PSU on par with that one, for ALOT cheaper. Sure it's a good PSU, but it's just throwing money away when you could get a nice EVGA for less and get the same reliability.

To answer your question, no you won't damage it by not using it to its fullest. It will probably last more than your offspring on this earth xD

Well I guess you can't go wrong. But the 620W M12II will keep an i7 and high-end GPU just as well as the AX760, and costs half even with the deal. That said, it's not like you're wasting money because it will last a while.

You know what, you have my blessing to get the AX760. But make sure it hasn't been opened by the person who's selling it to you so that you still have warranty coverage.

Well Corsair has bad units too. The AXi is certainly not one of them at all (bar the coil whine that plagues lots of them) but it's so freaking overkill for your system. A Seasonic M12 would save you quite a bit of money...
