I do think their computing products have been disappointing, the rest of their products and services on a whole have been pretty strong.

As for the stupid fan base, you have checked out this forum your posting in right, because every company seems to have the same stupid fan base, and they are getting more and more toxic as time goes on.

Do you also have an iGPU to see if you get a picture there and then check the BIOS to see if PCIe is set as the primary GPU?  (it shouldn't matter but its worth checking)

I think Call of Duty Warzone is worth the download if you have the space (and data cap) for it, though not everyone likes battle royales and/or Call of Duty titles.

CS:GO is "free", but there are rampant cheating issues in non-Prime lobbies so that's not always fun to play against. I'm not a huge TF2 fan personally but it's worth looking at as well. Steam has a whole section of free-to-play games so you should give the section a browse.

Yes. It's definitely something that can be enjoyed by kids, but especially as time went on Fry and Lela's relationship, Benders chronic everything, Dr Zoidberg's money troubles are all kind of adult themes I feel.

Also much of the references they made were clearly aimed at an adult audience. Original Star Trek actors making guest appearances. Nixon was the president. The second episode included a reference to The Honeymooners
That's a black and white show from the 50s.

Planning in purchasing an MSI product? Perhaps its time to reconsider.

A small'ish reviewer on YouTube, TechTeamGB, pointed flaws on a review sample from an MSI laptop. Before publishing it, just to be sure that he didn't get a laptop that faced the manufacture error bad luck syndrome, wanted to confirm with MSI about the issues he faced with the laptop before publishing his review. Instead of replying to the criticism or sending a different unit if it was indeed faulty. They took a long time to reply... and their reply was along the line of: Here is some money, if you don't post your review. Let's just keep this between us!.

The reviewers who has integrity, has refused MSI "offer" and decide to post it anyway. MSI came back with a reply asking him to change the review title. They didn't like the fact that the word "disappointing" was used, threatening him of no longer having review sample nor future sponsorship if he doesn't change the title. He decline again. The reviewer believes that the fact that the laptop that he got had, in his opinion, featured a poor display, ad thermals and "track pad felt like it was broken", believes that indeed it is disappointing.

Refusing to do so, MSI requested AMD help (the laptop featured an AMD CPU) to take down his video. However, AMD took the reviewer side instead, as there is nothing wrong with the Youtuber, but there is with the laptop.

    MSI has yet to reply.

Okay, the RX 580 Dual is easy enough to get fans for. This listing on AliExpress is for fans which claim to be compatible with various ASUS cards including the RX 580 that use 88mm fans. Measure the fans on your card to confirm that they are 88mm. They should not be difficult to swap out if you have a reasonable level of experience building PCs.

TheSLSAMG got a reaction from ErykYT3 in Acceptable CPU with a Noctua NH-D15
Yep, the lack of an upgrade path is due to Intel's change from LGA1151v2 to LGA1200. I wouldn't bother waiting until next-gen, the increase in performance isn't going to be game changing. I think the 9700K would be a great chip in terms of balance, while also giving you room for future GPU upgrades if you decide to. For Z370/Z390, the boards support both 8th generation (8600K, 8700K, etc.) and 9th generation (9600K, 9700K, 9900K) Intel CPUs.

    Thanks for the reply.
No upgrade path due to the 10 series using a new board I assume?
I could wait for next gen but I don't think I want to do that to be honest, prices will probably be the same and I've delayed since 2017.

Title may be a bit misleading, I was wondering if there is any cpu cheaper that I could pair with the noctua and still have a good balance, obviously not an i3 or anything.
But I think I'm decided that I'm getting the 9700k hopefully. What previous generations were supported on the same board?

TheSLSAMG got a reaction from Haro in Acceptable CPU with a Noctua NH-D15
The 9700K would be a fine chip to pair with the NH-D15, though I'll make the point that buying into Coffee Lake Refresh is buying into a dead platform with no (or little, considering a 9900K is an upgrade) upgrade path. It probably won't matter much though considering you're only upgrading after six generations of new CPUs.

I'd also consider a Ryzen 7 3700X if you don't already have a motherboard, as gaming performance will be close to the same but with better multi-core performance for (usually) less money. Going with an B550 or X570 board would also give you some upgrade path, but again it's probably not that important given your past situation. Either chip would do great for a gaming machine though.

TheSLSAMG got a reaction from FloRolf in GTX 770 Twin Frozr to GTX 560 mod
So I had a GTX 770 Twin Frozr that was broken, and a GTX 970 Strix with no cooler. For a while, I mounted the GTX 770 cooler on the GTX 970 and used it, but I recently got an AIO liquid cooler that I put on the GTX 970. As a result, I had the GTX 770 Twin Frozr cooler left over with no card to put it on. Except, I had a GTX 560 with a broken fan and a puny heatsink. The 92mm fan I replaced it with wasn't enough to keep temps down. So I took a look at the Twin Frozr cooler, and while the hole spacing wasn't the same, the coldplate had brackets attached to it that determine what kind of card it fits on (presumably to have a cooler that can work on either AMD or NVIDIA cards).

Now that I have a 3D printer, I engaged big brain mode and designed a bracket in TinkerCAD which would allow me to convert the Twin Frozr cooler's coldplate mounts to a GTX 560's 51x61 hole spacing. I intend on learning SketchUp or another 3D modelling suite, but TinkerCAD is very noob friendly for now. Through various revisions, this is what resulted:

I was originally going to figure out a way to use nuts so I didn't have to rely on 3D printed threads, but it wasn't going to work out. I could have used threaded inserts, but it's overkill for the application and I'm okay with treating the brackets as single-use since they only take an hour and a few grams of material to print anyways. The bracket is printed out of Inland/eSUN PLA+, which isn't exactly temperature resistant with a glass transition temperature of around 60-65C, but I'll remake it out of ABS or Polycarbonate once I get comfortable printing with those materials. Also, with the dual 92mm fans (one from Cooler Master and the other from a Wraith cooler), the card doesn't go past ~45C at full load. I'd show you the rest of the card but my soldering job on the fan cables looks like a blind man did it with his feet (okay not actually, but I didn't exactly cut the cables short like I should have.) The only other thing I had to sort out was VRM cooling since the stock VRM heatsinks were too tall to fit under the larger cooler and running no heatsinks made the card's PCB way too hot to touch. I ordered some 6mm tall heatsinks on Amazon and installed them. Side note: I ordered a 5-pack and Amazon sent 4, oof. It's a super-niche mod that has no broad appeal, but I figured I'd post about it because it might interest someone else.
