Hmm so if i get the 64gb eMMC can I put my own NVMe SSD in it? Unless its soldered to the board that is.

Edit: it looks like internal storage is not upgradable so its soldered on.

Humbug reacted to minibeas in Why does ultralight support suck throughout all of PC gaming
I was very excited and very happy when I was giving my ultra wide monitor. I have been able to use it for many productivity activities. And having websites side by side or document side by side is amazing. My issue is I'm trying to play more games with cinematic widescreen but they only ever partially support Ultra wide. The biggest grievance so far has been Mass effect legendary edition which said it would support the game in ultrawide. However when playing the game I realized that half the game is in 16 by 9 with the cinematic cutscenes... But the steam page says it supports Ultra wide..  and this is a common problem that I've seen with many games over the past 10 years. Ultralight gaming should not be that hard to support it should just be as simple as a resolution change in an ini file... Yet because of console gaming there doesn't seem to be any interest in supporting ultra-wide at all on any platform other than PC.. often times I'm having to try to download hacks to support Ultra wide... It doesn't seem like it would be that complex of an issue to support can someone explain to me why this is such a hard future to support???

No they aren't. Amazon, gamestop, and epic games just to name a few competitors.

These steam lawsuits are complete garbage. All they are are mindless ramblings about the way valve runs its business without actually pointing out anything actually illegal it does. "waaaaahhhhh 30% is too much, I don't like it! I'm going to sue you to lower it!"
They want the benefits of being on a marketplace, without having to pay for those benefits. They are just greedy.
Steam does not have a monopoly, they can move to any other marketplace or even sell their games on their own platform. The great thing about capitalism is they have a choice to do what they want. I had a business on Etsy, and I hated the increase in fees and other things they did. What did I do? Sue Etsy? No, I moved my business to another platform. Not only is my revenue up, but i'm paying much less in fees too.
Anyone who tries to insist steam is a monopoly has absolutely no clue what they are talking about.

I'm not sure I understand how I'm "locked in" to Steam. I mean, the games I have in my Steam-library are, but at the same time, it doesn't in any way or form prevent me from buying games on e.g. GOG. Also, I can make use of Steam itself to play games from e.g. the aforementioned GOG with features like Steam's overlay or Remote Play (something that I find a very valuable feature and which none of the competitors offer!)

I guess the counter point to this however is that if it is being actively exploited then the release of PoC code likely isn't going to substantially add to it. It's awfully close to "closing the barn door", too late it's already gone.

Well to be fair, this wont get much traction anyway. It is like always, if the censorship does not affect people personally they don give two cents about it. Until it is to late that is :)! Human nature in a nutshell, just look back at history and we are doomed to make the same mistakes that our forfathers did and them before.

But it wil be fine, we are just gonna have another 100 years of censorship because that make everyone happy, or?

The testing wasn't actually that limited, they just only showed the graphs from two games in the video. There were more games tested and about or over 1000 (forget the exact wording) test passes conducted. For a full list of games head on over to the Youtube WAN show video, check the comments for the time codes and get the list from that discussion, it's a fairly high number of games. Does seem to be accurate and correct, it's just that nobody really notices it because the pairing of such hardware just isn't that common, and even then it's likely something you can easily solve in a year with a CPU upgrade anyway as no CPU on either Intel or AMD platform at their higher or highest possible actually has the problem.

Interesting but low relevance issue basically.

Edit: Time code of a longer list from the WAN show (still not the full list) https://youtu.be/MH6fSbJP9RQ?t=2163

As for why this is actually a newer discovery

Because it's generally the reverse in DX11

Except its also seen with a 3600X and a 3070 as well which I'd argue is a combination you'd go for. The weird thing as well is that a 6900XT with a 2600X gets so much more performance than a 3090 as well.

    "Is the game actually ready?"

CDPR management: Well yes.....but actually no.

    Summary
By now, I'm sure everyone must've heard about Cyberpunk 2077's very rocky launch. Whilst the PC version, whilst far from perfect, escaped many of the criticisms, the console version was panned universally for not only looking abhorrent but also running that way as well, culminating in Sony deciding to pull the game from its PSN store until further notice. As it turns out, many of the core staff at CD Projekt RED knew that the game was never in a state where it could be released, and on a recent video conference with management, staff were quick to grill them over the game's marketing and launch, alongside imposed deadlines that staff felt were unrealistic amongst other issues.

    My thoughts
I think this is really just confirmation that Cyberpunk 2077's development was hugely troubled and ran into an almost-Anthem-like period of development hell. Whilst the game was announced much earlier, actual development work never started until after Witcher 3's final DLC, which came out in 2016. When you see the sheer number of bugs, lack of polish, removed features and seemingly copy-pasted placeholders, you get the sense that the developers had to rush this game to meet a deadline imposed by management which they knew could never be reached with a finished product.

I think it's high-time people stop putting CD Projekt RED on a pedestal of divine status and treat them as they would any other company. Stop buying into the hype and don't pre-order.

Seems quite likely. AMD is known to use the new architecture for the high end SKUs and rebrand last gen parts for the rest.

I do hope there will be a big perf/dollar jump though. I.e. I hope RX 5700 XT performance is available for USD 200. That will allow people to build fast 1440p gaming PCs for cheap.

Also AMD better have partner card designs available at launch. This is a very competitive launch because Nvidia is also launching at the same time, so AMD needs to give buyers options.
